Liga MX: Chivas vs Pachuca March 10 on Telemundo

With the first half of Liga MX now over, the true playoff chase begins to intensify, as exemplified by the matchup of Chivas vs Pachuca this Sunday, March 10, live at 7pm ET on Telemundo. Once again, Andrés Cantor and Sammy Sadovnik will have the call.

Pachuca has the momentum coming in, currently fifth in the standings, just five points away from the top, after defeating San Luis at home 2-1 in their last league match. Pachuca’s X factor could be Angel Reyna, who has scored two goals in the last two matches, including the game winner against San Luis. Another key component of Pachuca’s success could be Fernando Cavenaghi. The Argentinean forward scored two goals against Atlante in the Mexican Cup and played 75 minutes as a starter against San Luis.

Meanwhile, Chivas is currently in ninth place with 12 points and is one spot behind Pumas, owners of the last playoff spot if the season ended today. Chivas has an undefeated record at home during this tournament with one win and three draws. Chivas has also never lost to Pachuca in Guadalajara since 2007, with three wins and two draws against them on its home field since then.

This matchup of Chivas vs Pachuca also is the first match ever between Chivas coach Benjamin Galindo and Pachuca manager Gabriel Caballero. Galindo and Caballero used to be teammates and won championships together with Santos in 1996 and Pachuca in 1999. Both of them will be on opposite sides of the field for this Chivas vs Pachuca matchup, with one of their teams taking a big step toward obtaining a postseason berth.

MIAMI -6 DE MARZO, 2013- La primera mitad de la Liga MX ya está en el espejo retrovisor, y a partir de ahora la verdadera pelea por clasificar a la liguilla llega a “Fútbol Estelar” con un partidazo entre dos titanes del fútbol azteca como Guadalajara y Pachuca a las 7PM ET/6PM CT/4PM PT, solo por Telemundo. Este encuentro contará con los relatos y comentarios de Andrés Cantor y Sammy Sadovnik, sello constante de cada transmisión de Telemundo.

El Pachuca llega dulce a este compromiso tras ganarle al San Luis en casa por 2-1. Esos tres puntos no solo borraron el sabor amargo de la derrota frente al Morelia la fecha anterior, sino que también llevaron a los Tuzos al quinto lugar, apenas cinco puntos detrás del superlíder, Tigres. El “factor X” de los Tuzos podría ser nada menos que Angel Reyna. Reyna venía con la puntería torcida en el arranque del campeonato pero se reencontró con el gol anotando dos en los últimos dos partidos de la Liga MX, incluyendo el tanto de la victoria contra el San Luis. Otro componente importante para el éxito del conjunto visitante podría ser Fernando Cavenaghi, ya que el “Torito” se despachó con un doblete frente al Atlante en la Copa MX y jugó 75 minutos frente a los Reales.

Chivas, por su parte, se ubica noveno con 12 unidades y está a uno de Pumas, dueños del último cupo a la liguilla si la temporada fuese a terminar hoy mismo. El conjunto de Guadalajara llega confiado a su último partido como local antes del superclásico contra el América (partido que también se podrá ver por la pantalla de Telemundo el 31 de marzo) ya que va invicto como local en el torneo y el historial indica que no pierde en tierras tapatías frente a su rival de este domingo desde el Clausura 2007. Desde ese entonces, el rebaño ha cosechado tres victorias y dos empates frente al Pachuca en casa.

Curiosamente, el técnico de Chivas Benjamín Galindo se enfrentará por primera vez en su carrera a Gabriel Caballero, actual entrenador del Pachuca y ex compañero de Galindo en el Santos campeón de 1996 y el Pachuca campeón en 1999.
