They’re well-meaning — you have to give them that.
Those folks at One Tree Hill are teaming up with the USO for a live concert event for military personnel. The event will take place this Friday, Sept. 19, at the Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Among the featured acts will be Angels & Airwaves, occasional OTH guest star Kate Voegele, as well as OTH’s Haley James Scott, Bethany Joy Galeotti.
Military personnel, if you’re into it, show up with your service I.D. and you’ll walk right in.
I’m sure there will be loads of personnel on hand to attend, and I’m sure many will have a good time. But as one of my colleagues said in an e-mail sent immediately after reading the announcement: Is this the best we can do for our servicemen and women?
Just an FYI: The concert will be filmed and will form the basis for an episode set to air Nov. 10, in which Peyton will produce a massive USO concert at the military base where her brother is stationed.
Will Lucas and Peyton be married by then? Probably not. Will Peyton’s bro be cool or will he punch Lucas in the face? We’ll have to see, I guess. Some sort of evil drama is sure to unfold …
