TCA: “Cougar Town” crew reveals Season 3 details

In the interest of full disclosure: I did not make it to last night’s not-terrifically-exclusive, You-Tube-announced cocktail party and not-sanctioned-by-the network, unofficial Cougar Town TCA panel. I love me some Cougar Town. I wanted to party rogue.

But done in by experiencing hours and hours of lurching along in a charter bus to and from set visits on opposite ends of L.A. — which made the 75 or so of us writers on said buses seriously tardy for the party — I threw in the towel and left my fellow writers racing for the Langham Huntington’s Tap Room.

Here’s what I missed (well I’m sure I missed plenty given that it was a booze party filled with a bunch of slap-happy TV critics). Stop reading now if you haven’t already fallen victim to the major spoiler that trickled out of The Tap…

….Jules shall be a Cougar no more.

Not that she ever really was one much beyond the first season, but still. According to executive producer Kevin Biegel and creator Bill Lawrence, the as-yet-unscheduled Season 3 will begin with Grayson on bended knee and end, not with a heart-rending, cliff-hanging break-up, but a walk down the aisle.

“We wanted to do a real adult relationship with two people who make sense together. So the third season starts with Jules (Courteney Cox) and Grayson (Josh Hopkins) getting engaged, and it ends with them getting married,” Biegel told TV Line’s Michael Ausiello.

Courteney Cox, who was also at the party, says she’s happy to see Jules take the plunge once again, adding, “…this one is going to go much better than the last one.” Awwwww. Bobbbbby.

So whattya think, Cougar Town faithful? Since production has yet to begin on said Season finale, will this storyline actually shake all the way out? Do you want it to? Or is Big Carl and a small circle of friends all Jules really needs to have and to hold?
