Duane Lee Chapman returns to “Dog The Bounty Hunter”

It’s been the talk the Dog The Bounty Hunter fan base and Twitter-verse for months: Has Dog’s eldest son, Duane Lee Chapman, finally abandoned the family, the bounty-hunting business and the much-loved A&E series for good, after a previous close call two years ago?

• Update: Leland Chapman launches new fan forum

In case you missed Wednesday night’s episode, Greed Is Good, the answer is no.

Without fanfare or explanation, Duane Lee’s back like he never left — a big relief, especially for fans who never quite got over the abrupt departure of Timothy Chapman, the only Da Kine Bail Bonds Bounty hunter not directly related to the Dog, whose 2009 legal woes led to his departure from the show. Best guess for Duane Lee’s absence is that he was handcuffed by love, a theory augmented by photos and info on his Facebook page.

Legal woes for the Da Kine clan surface again in this Wednesday’s all-new episode, Tears for Fears, which addresses the March 2011 arrest of Dog’s only bounty hunting daughter, Baby Lyssa Chapman — an event that reduces her dad to tears.

Dog The Bounty Hunter airs Wednesday nights at 10/9pm CT on A&E.

  1. You guys are truly an inspiration. I love how after every capture no matter what the fugitive put you thru, you still have the ability to put aside hard feelings and show remorse and compassion and try to convince them it will be ok.

  2. Duane Lee please return to Dog The Bounty Hunter we all miss u. I watched the show and wished I had a family like your family. Life is hard because of the show I stopped using Meth and am going back to school to get a degree in psychology for drug and domestic violence “

  3. i am a huge fan!! but at the end of the day they are a family..i think people get to caught up in the show and not realising they are their own lil family, nobody else is envolved, everybody just watch.. i hope they make good with each other not put up with what has been written about them..

  7. They need to cut the ambilical cord and move on. Stand on your own two feet and grow the hell up. Quit being in THE DOGS (daddies) shadow. Get your own business started and tell the producers to F— Off.. They act like they own you when you do a stupid reality show.

    • I just wonder what you think these two young men can move on toward? The producers of this show are the reason the Chapman boys are not in prison in Mexico. Check your facts before you spout. This young man finally seems to have realized his debt of gratitude to his family. Bravo Duane Lee. It seems you are able to make good adult decisions.

  8. I hope Duane Lee DOES return. I just watched the episode about Lyssa. WOW, it was emotional and wonderful. Anyone with an addition of ANY kind should watch that. It is uplifting and educational. Good lesson for parents and kids alike.
Duane, I don’t care WHO you love, go back and do your job on DTBH, you are missed there and can still love your woman. Be a man about it.
