N.Y. Giants Super Bowl Champion Amani Toomer Visits ESPN on Friday
Former N.Y. Giants’ wide receiver and Super Bowl XLII champion Amani Toomer will visit ESPN on Friday, Jan. 27. He will appear on Mike and Mike (9:30 a.m. ET), The Herd with Colin Cowherd (10:45 a.m.), First Take (11 a.m.), The Scott Van Pelt Show (1:30 p.m.), ESPN Deportes (2 p.m.), The Doug Gottlieb Show (3 p.m.), and NFL Live (4:15 p.m.). Toomer will also have guest appearances on SportsCenter throughout the day.
A member of the 2000 and 2007 NFC championship teams, Toomer had six receptions for 86 yards in the Giants win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. He spent his career with the Giants (1996-2008) and was inducted into his team’s Ring of Honor in 2010. Additionally, Toomer has contributed to 1050 AM ESPN New York.
Two-Hour Sunday NFL Countdown “Super Bowl XLVI Off-Week” Edition
ESPN will kick off its extensive coverage of Super Bowl XLVI with a two-hour edition of Sunday NFL Countdown Presented by IBM on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 10:30 a.m. with host Chris Berman and analysts Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson, Keyshawn Johnson (on the main set), Suzy Kolber, Merril Hoge and Bill Parcells (on the second set). NFL Insider Adam Schefter and senior analyst Chris Mortensen will provide headlines and up-to-the-minute league news.
The program will focus primarily on the Xs and Os of the Super Bowl XLVI matchup between the Patriots and the Giants, including their meeting in week nine and in Super Bowl XLII. Highlights:
Hannah Storm Conversation with Jim Irsay: In a sit-down interview with ESPN anchor Hannah Storm, the Colts owner and CEO discusses his childhood, his relationship with his father and offers some insight on how the franchise will handle quarterback Peyton Manning’s future. Irsay’s conversation with Storm will also be one of five interviews featuring the league’s biggest newsmakers that will be in a one-hour SportsCenter Special: NFL Face to Face with Hannah Storm (Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 9 p.m. on ESPN2).
Peyton Manning’s Future in Indy: This week, The Indianapolis Star published an exclusive interview with Manning, who columnist Bob Kravitz refers to as being wistful and saddened by the changes at the Colts coaching staff. The Countdown crew will discuss Manning’s future.
Soundtracks – Patriots and Giants in their Championship Games: The two Super Bowl XLVI-bound teams were wired for sound during the championship games last Sunday.
