College football bowl games 2012-13 TV schedule begins with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl Dec. 15 and ends with the BCS National Championship Jan. 7.
The Gildan New Mexico Bowl between Nevada and Arizona Dec. 15 at 1pm ET on ESPN won’t be the most hyped or most watched college football bowl game, but the game from University Stadium in Albuquerque does have the distinction of being the first of 35 bowl games taking place between Saturday and the BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 7. Here are previews of the top bowl games and the complete college football bowl games 2012-13 TV schedule:
Tuesday, Jan. 1
Rose Bowl Game Presented by VIZIO: Stanford vs. Wisconsin
ESPN, 5pm ET
The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., is the site of this BCS matchup between the Wisconsin Badgers from the Big Ten and the No. 6 Stanford Cardinal from the Pac-12. The 8-5 Badgers are making their third straight Rose Bowl appearance, though they’ll be without the head coach that got them there. Bret Bielema accepted the coaching job at Arkansas, so former head coach and current athletic director Barry Alvarez will be on the Badgers’ sideline. Stanford beat UCLA for the Pac-12 title, and the Cardinal’s tough run defense will be tested by Wisconsin’s star running back Montee Ball.
Discover Orange Bowl: Florida State vs. Northern Illinois
ESPN, 8:30pm ET
Miami’s Sun Life Stadium is the site of the Orange Bowl matchup between the BCS No. 12 Florida State Seminoles of the ACC and the No. 15 Northern Illinois Huskies, the first team from the MAC to win a BCS bowl bid. While few give the Huskies much of a chance against the Seminoles (and few believe the Huskies deserve this berth over Oklahoma), NIU quarterback Jordan Lynch hopes to score an upset and prove doubters wrong.
Wednesday, Jan. 2
Allstate Sugar Bowl: Florida vs. Louisville
ESPN, 8:30pm ET
The Sugar Bowl at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans has the BCS No. 3 Florida Gators from the SEC taking on the No. 21 Louisville Cardinals from the Big East. Second-year head coach Will Muschamp led the Gators to an 11-1 record and their first BCS bowl since 2009. The 10-2 Cardinals won the BCS berth with the best record in the Big East, and star sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater hopes to lead them to an upset over the favored Gators.
Thursday, Jan. 3
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Oregon vs. Kansas State
ESPN, 8:30pm ET
University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., hosts the Fiesta Bowl featuring the BCS No. 4 Oregon Ducks from the Pac-12 against the No. 5 Kansas State Wildcats from the Big 12. Both teams had their sights on the national title game two months ago, but on Nov. 17 they lost their first and only games of the season when Stanford beat Oregon and Baylor trounced K-State. The Wildcats’ Heisman finalist quarterback Collin Klein and Oregon’s unusual uniforms should at least make for an entertaining consolation game.
Friday, Jan. 4
AT&T Cotton Bowl
FOX, 8pm ET
The Cotton Bowl from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, pits the No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies from the SEC against the No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners from the Big 12. It’s not a BCS game, but it sure feels like one. The 10-2 Aggies boast 2012 Heisman Trophy winning freshman quarterback Johnny “Johnny Football” Manziel. Oklahoma may have a chip on its shoulder against A&M, as the Sooners saw their potential BCS bowl bid go instead to Northern Illinois.
Monday, Jan. 7
Discover BCS National Championship Game: Notre Dame vs. Alabama
ESPN, 8:30pm ET
Two legendary football programs collide at Sun Life Stadium in Miami as the No. 1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide in the BCS National Championship Game. Alabama is playing for a repeat title and the SEC’s seventh straight, while Notre Dame is playing for its first national championship since 1988. The deciding factor could be how well Alabama’s quarterback AJ McCarron and running backs T.J. Yeldon and Eddie Lacy perform against linebacker Monti T’eo and the stout Irish defense.

Yes, right here: NFL playoff schedule 2013
WOULD HAVE APPRECIATED GETTING THIS EARLY ENOUGH TO GET ALL THE GAMES IN DECEMBER!!!!
THIS WAS CERTAINLY BETTER THAN NOTHING.
I ENJOY HAVING THE CHANNEL GUIDE AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET BEFORE THE MAGAZINE ARRIVES. SOMETIME I DON’T GET THE MAGAZINE UNTIL THE 2ND OR 3RD OF THE MONTH. THIS GIVES ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET THE WHOLE MONTH.
