The Weather Channel premieres a year-end special called 2012: A Year Out of Season this Friday, Dec. 28, at 8pm ET. The one-hour program explores the brutal weather that ravaged the United States and defined 2012. Weather Channel on-camera meteorologist Jim Cantore hosts A Year Out of Season.
From The Weather Channel release: “A wide range of extreme conditions ruled the year, beginning with an unseasonably warm ‘winter-less’ winter, and a series of deadly tornado outbreaks that began before the onset of the traditional ‘tornado season.’ Months of record heat followed, leading to a drought so devastating it stirred comparisons to the 1930’s historic Dust Bowl. Nine million acres of land were scorched during a near-record wildfire season. Hurricane Isaac battered the Gulf Coast in late summer, then Superstorm Sandy, the catastrophic megastorm comprised of a hurricane, nor’easter and winter storm, brought our country’s most populous region to its knees. This one-hour special recounts the year’s many defining weather events and looks ahead to what may be in store in 2013.”
2012: A Year Out of Season premieres Dec. 28 at 8pm ET on The Weather Channel, with an encore at 11pm ET that night. The special repeats Dec. 29 at 2pm & 5pm ET; Dec. 30 at 9pm ET; Dec. 31 at 12am, 3am & 4pm ET.
