On Demand/DVD New Releases March 4-10

It is an interesting week for On Demand/DVD New Releases, not a lot of big-name titles coming out, but the total number of films being released is more than we usually see. For the younger set, there’s Barney, the Care Bears, Thomas and Friends, and Wreck-It Ralph (which is rated PG). Fans of quirky, indie films might enjoy Angel in the House, Barrymore, I Am Secretly an Important Man, and The Intouchables. Miltary buffs/action fans should consider Red Dawn, Into the White and The Marine 3: HomefrontThe following On Demand/DVD New Releases are available March 4-10:

Wreck-It Ralph

Angel in the House: Toni Collette and Ioan Gruffudd play a couple having trouble conceiving who decide to look into adoption. But then a 7-year-old boy from a foster home unexpectedly turns up on their doorstep and turns their world upside down. Also stars Maurice Cole (PG, 1:30) 3/5

The Intouchables: This touching fact-based French drama follows the special relationship that forms between a aristocrat and the young man he hires to be his caretaker after a paragliding accident leaves him a quadriplegic. François Cluzet, Omar Sy, Ann Le Ny (R, 1:54), 3/5 The film was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film; and was nominated for 32 other awards as well. (It won a total of 16 awards).

Playing for Keeps: A fallen soccer star moves into town to coach his son’s team and possibly reconnect with his ex. But he ends up catching the eye of all the starstruck soccer moms in town. Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Dennis Quaid (PG-13, 1:45), 3/5

Red Dawn: The Cold War classic is brought up to date in this remake that follows a group of teenagers defending their hometown amid an invasion of the U.S. by North Korea. Chris Hemsworth, Isabel Lucas, Josh Hutcherson (PG-13, 1:33), 3/5

Wreck-It Ralph (3-D): Audiences weaned on classic video games will love this charming animated story about a video-game villain whose quest to become a hero throws the whole arcade where he lives into chaos. Voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer (PG, 1:48), 3/5
