In the Honduras vs Mexico match, Honduras looks to continue its undefeated run in the Hexagonal against a Mexico squad that needs to get three vital points in order to recover from a disappointing 0-0 tie at home with Jamaica in their first match of the six-team tournament. José Manuel “Chepo” de la Torre, Mexico’s manager, will have all of his best players at his disposal and will count on stalwarts such as Andrés Guardado, Giovani dos Santos, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández and the return of goalkeeper Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa (pictured) to the squad after his absence against Jamaica.

Honduras enters the match confident after defeating the United States in their opening qualifier and looks for a win that will allow them to get one step closer to getting one of the three automatic spots in the 2014 World Cup. The overall head-to-head stats of Honduras vs Mexico favor Mexico, which has a total of 17 wins, five draws and just six losses. But recent history also shows that Mexico has lost in its last two visits to San Pedro Sula, including a 3-1 Honduras win in the last Honduras vs Mexico matchup there on April 1, 2009.

Telemundo’s pre-game shows will include a special interactive feature, with viewers able to vote for which interviews they want to see on the eve of the match. “La Antesala” will include interviews by Andrés Cantor in Europe with Mexican stars such as Andrés Guardado and Héctor Moreno. Sammy Sadovnik also spent a week in Honduras talking to the players from the home team, including an exclusive one-on-one interview with Honduras’ manager Luis Fernando Suárez.

Following the Honduras vs Mexico match, Telemundo’s sister network mun2 will have reactions and analysis in a new 30-minute postgame show called Más Rumbo al Mundial.

A few days prior to the Honduras vs Mexico match, Telemundo’s newest addition to its Deportes Telemundo reporting team — Emmy-winning correspondent Francisco Cuevas — makes his debut on Titulares Telemundo March 17 at 11pm ET with an interview with Juan Pablo Montes, an addition to Honduras’ National Team squad.

The Honduras vs Mexico World Cup qualifier airs live March 22 at 4pm ET on Telemundo.
