Updated April 12, 2013, 8:05pm CT

ABC’s daytime drama General Hospital celebrated its 50th anniversary last week, and that celebration has continued this week with further episodes taking place at the beloved Nurses Ball, the fictional event that was reprised for the show in honor of its anniversary. In the real world, General Hospital‘s 50th anniversary will also be celebrated and discussed at an event this Friday, April 12, at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. Following up on the 30th Annual PaleyFest, the center will be holding a special panel event called, “General Hospital: Celebrating 50 Years and Looking Forward.

The General Hospital panel at the Paley Center event looks at how — during a time when the popular soap opera genre is reimagining itself for the 21st century, and when some soaps have turned to the web for new life — General Hospital‘s ratings have soared as some of its most popular cast members have returned to Port Charles to mark the 50th anniversary of the show.

Scheduled to appear at the “General Hospital: Celebrating 50 Years and Looking Forward” panel are talent from in front of and behind the camera, including:

* Tony Geary (“Luke Spencer”)
* Jane Elliot (“Tracy Quartermaine”)
* Jacklyn Zeman (“Bobbie Spencer”)
* Maurice Benard (“Sonny Corinthos”)
* Jason Thompson (“Patrick Drake”)
* Laura Wright (“Carly Corinthos Jacks”)
* Genie Francis (“Laura Spencer”)
* Finola Hughes (“Anna Devane”)
* Kimberly McCullough (“Robin Scorpio”)
* Kristina Wagner (“Felicia Jones”)
* Kirsten Storms (“Maxie Jones”)
* Kelly Monaco (“Samantha McCall”)
* Frank Valentini (Executive Producer, General Hospital)
* Ron Carlivati (Head Writer, General Hospital)

UPDATE 4/12/13: Moderator Will Keck tweeted that Kristina Wagner is feeling ill, so will be replaced on the panel by John J. York, who plays Mac Scorpio.

The panel will be moderated by Will Keck, senior editor and columnist for TV Guide Magazine.

As you might expect, given the passionate soap fan base, this event is sold out for in-person tickets. However, the panel will be live-streamed at PaleyCenter.org beginning at approximately 10:15pm ET/7:15pm PT on April 12. The Paley Center also offers an app on its site in case you need to watch while on the go.
