2013 USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship — date, time, channel

NBC and NBC Sports Network will combine to broadcast eight hours of the 2013 USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship. The fourth annual event will be held at PPL Park in Philadelphia June 1-2, and feature 20 teams from various colleges, including Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Kutztown, Life University, Navy, NC State, Northeastern, Notre Dame, Penn, Penn State, Saint Joseph’s, Temple, Texas, UCLA, Villanova, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and back-to-back tournament champion Dartmouth.

All matches will consist of seven players per team, playing on the same size pitch as a traditional 15’s rugby match. Teams will compete in one of four pools and will play seven minute halves, with a two-minute halftime. Rugby Sevens will become an official Olympic sport in 2016, and the USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship will offer an opportunity to preview the talent qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team.

Veteran announcer Todd Harris will serve as the play-by-play commentator for all telecasts. Harris will be joined in the booth by former USA Sevens captain and USA Rugby World Cup participant Brian Hightower. Marty Snider will report all the action from the sidelines.
