History re-airing The Bible series starting Nov. 11

It was a ratings smash — and a favorite among our readers, who named it Best TV Movie or Miniseries by a large margin in our annual Viewers Voice Awards — in its original run, and now History is re-airing The Bible series, beginning Monday, Nov. 11, in connection with History’s new series Bible Secrets Revealed.

The Bible series, created and executive produced by the husband-and-wife team of Mark Burnett and Roma Downey (who also costars in the production as Mary), first aired in March 2013 and, according to History, garnered an average of 11.4 million total viewers per episode. Over the course of its 5-week run, more than 95 million viewers tuned in to the premiere, according to the network. Keith David narrates the Emmy-nominated series, which covers major stories of The Bible from Genesis through Revelation. Along with Downey, the cast for The Bible series also notably includes Diogo Morgado as Jesus, along with an international cast. Burnett and Downey are planning a sequel to The Bible series for NBC called A.D.: Beyond the Bible.

The Bible series begins its re-airing Nov. 11 at 8pm ET with the “Beginnings” episode, which covers the book of Genesis. This episode leads into is followed a few days later by the first episode of History’s new series Bible Secrets Revealed, which looks to reveal the hidden facts about the most-read book in history. The series features on-location photography, reenactments and interviews with scholars, archaeologists and religious leaders to take on some of the questions that people of faith have been wondering.
