On Demand DVD New Releases Nov. 11-17 Superman may be the headliner for this week’s releases, but a number of smaller films are making their debuts and are worth checking out. This might be a good opportunity to catch a foreign film or a documentary, too.

Frances Ha Noah Baumbach directs and Greta Gerwig stars in this modern comic fable that explores New York, friendship, class, ambition, failure, and redemption. Greta Gerwig, Mickey Sumner (R, 1:26) 11/12 Same day as DVD.

Geography Club At Goodkind High School, a group of students of varying sexual orientation form an after-school club a as a discrete way to share their feelings and experiences. Based on the novel by Brent Hartinger Cameron Deane Stewart, Meaghan Martin, Justin Deeley (PG-13) 11/15 Same day as theatrical release

Man of Steel (3-D) Director Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) offers a darker, moodier take on Superman’s origin story in this action extravaganza that has Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) battling General Zod (Michael Shannon), a maniacal refugee from his home planet of Krypton. Also stars Russell Crowe (PG-13, 2:23) 11/12
