Although she may seem like she’s been around for much longer, and may act — and probably has lived — beyond the way most others of her age have to that point, pop star Miley Cyrus is actually only turning 21 on Nov. 23. To celebrate, MTV is airing eight hours of Miley Cyrus birthday celebration programming beginning at 12pm ET/PT on Nov. 23.
The Miley Cyrus birthday event looks to be another popular addition to what MTV, in a release, calls “the MTV/Miley collective,” and certainly some of the performer’s most famous and infamous moments of this past year have occurred via MTV, notably her buzzed-about performances at the 2013 MTV VMAs in August, and at the 2013 MTV EMAs earlier this month.
Miley Cyrus herself will be hosting her own birthday event on MTV. The 21st birthday party kicks off at 12pm with the debut of 21 Candles: Miley’s MTV Moments, an original special that looks at 21 reasons why fans love the singer. The program features Miley’s best MTV moments of all time, a look back at her music videos and performances, and celebrities and fans giving birthday shout-outs. Miley will appear throughout the special, reflecting on her career so far, and what’s to come after her 21st birthday. This special will re-air at 7:30pm.

At 12:30pm, MTV will re-air the documentary Miley: The Movement Deluxe Edition, which will feature new commentary from Miley Cyrus before she introduces and hosts two of what MTV says are her favorite MTV shows, Awkward and Snooki and JWOWW.
Throughout the day on Nov. 23, Miley Cyrus fans (I guess you’re called “Smilers”) who tweet birthday wishes to #HappyBirthdayMiley, or post Instagram video messages beginning today (Nov. 22), will have the chance to appear on the network during the celebration.
