Nelson Mandela dead at 95

The news of the death of former South African President and activist Nelson Mandela on Thursday brought outpouring of respect and sorrow from all over the world. The 95-year-old Mandela had been ill for some time. In his fight to help end apartheid in his country, Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years before he gained his freedom and, eventually, the nation’s top office.

A new film based on Mandela’s memoir, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom has just been released, with Idris Elba in the title role.
