7 Questions With Jackson Pace of Showtime’s “Homeland”

People have strong opinions about Homeland, the explosive drama that will wrap its third season on Showtime at 9pm Sunday, and they often lead to disagreements. But one aspect that has yet to come under fire is the performance of Jackson Pace, the 13-year-old actor who plays Chris Brody, confused son of returned soldier/marked terrorist Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis).

Pace took time to answer our “7 Questions,” telling us about his future career plans, and how being on Homeland has affected his worldview.

Jackson Pace Homeland Showtime1) You’re at a magazine rack and can only pick three titles. Which ones do you choose?

Definitely Sports Illustrated. Entertainment Weekly, because they know how to throw a party. Do comic books count as a magazine? If so, something with Captain America.

2) Your DVR can only carry three shows. Other than Homeland, which ones do you want?

This is a tough one. If I have to pick I would say, all football: NFL and college (War Eagle!), Teen Wolf and Modern Family.

3) What has been your strangest fan encounter?

Every once in awhile I have a really young kid come up to me and say, “I know you, I love your show.” I always think that they are mistaking me for someone else because Homeland isn’t a show that many young kids watch.  I guess they do though because they always ask questions or tell me what’s happening on Homeland.

4) Tell me about a time when you were starstruck.

After Homeland won the Golden Globe, we took an elevator to do the backstage interviews and standing next to me was Tom Hanks. He’s an incredible actor.

5) What are three things you must have in your fridge or pantry?

Steak, Buffalo Wings, and brownies.

6) How has being on a show like Homeland changed the way you look at world events?

When I first started on the show I was 11 years old and didn’t think too much about world events. I didn’t think that things that happened outside the U.S. really affected me. I pay more attention to what is going on in the world now.

7) You’re still very young, so have you decided whether acting is what you want to do as a career?

I’ve wanted to be an actor as long as I can remember. I’d like to learn more about writing and directing. I can’t imagine being in any other business.
