The NFC Wild Card 49ers, led by quarterback Colin Kaepernick, reached the NFC Championship Game for the third season in a row, with a 23-20 Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers and a 23-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in the Divisional Playoffs. The NFC West champion Seahawks, led by quarterback Russell Wilson, defeated the New Orleans Saints 23-15 in the Divisional Playoffs. The NFC West rivals split their two regular-season meetings, with the Seahawks winning 29-3 in Week 2 and the 49ers winning 19-17 in Week 14. The winner of this game represents the NFC in Super Bowl XLVIII Feb. 2 in New York/New Jersey.
