First up, The Big Bang Theory on CBS Thursday, May 1 at 8pm ET/PT, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) goes on a journey of discovery guided by his childhood idol and mentor, Professor Proton (guest star Bob Newhart), who helps him cope with grief. Leonard (Johnny Galecki) turns a relationship milestone into a competition with Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting). Meanwhile, Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) make a “Star Wars Day” gift for the guys. Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic helped to create special effects as well as provided props, such as the iconic lightsaber, for this special episode, “The Proton Transmogrification.”

In ABC’s The Goldbergs “A Wrestler Named Goldberg” on Tuesday, May 6, at 9pm ET/PT, Murray (Jeff Garlin) and Pops (George Segal) convince Barry (Troy Gentile) to come up with an elaborate lie about him joining the wrestling team so an overprotective Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) is duped. When the truth comes out and backfires, Beverly takes matters into her own hands. Meanwhile, Adam (Sean Giambrone) convinces Erica (Hayley Orrantia) to take him to the local premiere of Return of the Jedi but she flakes to hang out with her friends. When Erica sees his disappointment, she makes good on her original promise with a plan. Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!) guest stars as a Star Wars fan in full tauntaun regalia and Shawn Crosby is costumed as Obi Wan Kenobi and puppeteering Yoda.
