7 Questions With…Christy McGinty Of Little Women: LA

Little Women: LA is a reality show about a group of friends who all have forms of dwarfism. The besties are all bold and beautiful, but the most outspoken of the group is Christy McGinty. Her frank discussions about the sex-lives of little people, the candor with which she describes her battle with alcohol addiction and her light-hearted and irreverent look at the challenges she faces as a little person, have made Christy a polarizing figure who both opens viewers eyes and drops their jaws. Christy took time from her schedule to answer our 7 Questions…

1. You’re at a magazine rack and can only pick three titles. Which ones do you choose?
A food magazine, like Food Network Magazine, I love cooking, cooking is my zen, Some kind of travel magazine, because I love traveling. I love Hawaii. So it would be a travel magazine and a food magazine, and I’d pick up something for my daughter, she loves fashion, so Vogue.

2. If your TV carried just three shows or networks, what would they be?
Lifetime for sure, I like the Travel Channel and Netflix.

3. What are three things that you have to have in your fridge or pantry?
Mineral Water, Rock Star energy drink, and sourdough bread.

4. What has been your strangest or funniest fan encounter?
They’re all kind of funny. To tell you the truth, I went with Todd to McDonald’s to get breakfast today, and the lady behind the counter screamed and she was like ‘Christy!!!” She was so excited. “You’re at our McDonald’s, eating with us? Can we get pictures?”

5. Tell us about a time you were star struck.
I’ve been in the business for a long time, I would say that I think Danny DeVito was amazing. I worked with him on Death to Smoochie, and that was my first starstruck moment. It was my first, huge feature film with Danny DeVito, Edward Norton and Robin Williams and there was a girl, I think she was a PA, and she was very sad. We were in Toronto, she missed her family and word got out that she’d had her birthday and no one remembered. And Danny DeVito called every bakery in Toronto and must have ordered 100 cakes — we must have had 1000 people on set — and he put all of the cakes on a giant table, and had a bunch of candles and we all sang to her. And it was so kind of him, I was amazed.

6. What is a movie you can watch over and over again?
Elf. I am a crazy fan of that movie. Will Ferrell, I just love him. And I like Mama Mia! because I love musicals. I love Meryl Streep. She’s gorgeous.

7. If you could have any talent that you don’t currently possess, what would it be?
I’d probably want the ability to speak another language. I’d like to be able to speak Spanish. I really sucked at it in high school. I got a b, but I can’t roll my Rs. I don’t possess that tongue rolling ability; I sound more like a growling Russian. It would be awesome to speak Spanish and roll my Rs.
