Channel Guide Magazine’s Top 10 Fall 2014 TV Shows

We’ve gathered the staff, argued it out and put together our list of the Top 10 Fall 2014 TV shows. While we’re anxiously awaiting some midseason entries featuring A-list talent, we kept our focus on the newbies debuting this year. Agree with our choices? Disagree? Think we missed a few contenders?

Let us know your favorites and why you think they are hits in the making in the comments below.

How to Get Away With Murder (ABC) This one’s coming from creating/writing genius Shonda Rhimes of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Scandal fame. Enough said.

Gotham (FOX) Whether you’re a diehard Dark Knight devotee or a casual fan of the Caped Crusader, you’ll love this stylish crime drama revealing the origins of many of the most famous villains in comic book lore.

Gracepoint (FOX) This 10-episode murder mystery may be a remake of the U.K.’s Broadchurch, and David Tennant reprises his role as the lead detective, but we’re hooked and ecstatic to see Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn in another complicated family situation.

The Affair (Showtime) This exquisite drama from House of Cards executive producer Sarah Treem tracks the cause and effect of an extramarital affair that ended with a potential murder.

A to Z (NBC)The charming Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother) shines in this comedy about two opposites who seem destined to attract and “the comprehensive account of their relationship from A to Z.”

black-ish (ABC) How does an upper-class black family keep it real when it’s not clear what “real” is anymore? This comedy is a fresh and funny take on the blurred racial and cultural lines in America.

Red Band Society (FOX) Steven Spielberg executive produces this endearing coming-of-age drama that is part The Breakfast Club, part The Fault in Our Stars, featuring a group of teens whose only common denominator is being a patient at a children’s hospital. The Help’s Octavia Spencer enforces the rules as head nurse.

Scorpion (CBS) Based on real people, this fast-paced drama is about a group of geniuses that act as America’s last line of defense — think The Big Bang Theory meets Mission: Impossible. Because when the chips are down and the clock is ticking, we want eccentric geniuses to save us.

Dig (USA Network) Tim Kring (Heroes) and Gideon Raff (Homeland) are the masterminds behind this fast-paced action thinker that stars Jason Isaacs as an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem who, while investigating a murder, uncovers a conspiracy 2,000 years in the making.

The Flash (The CW) The CW pairs its hit Arrow with another DC Comics series, and it’s a winner. Full of color, fun and faithful to the source material, The Flash will still be able to win over audiences perhaps unfamiliar with the world of the Fastest Man Alive.
