Billy Miller joining “General Hospital”; takes over Jason Morgan role

Fans have been speculating about this for awhile now, and today ABC has confirmed that daytime favorite Billy Miller will be joining the cast of General Hospital, taking over the role of Jason Morgan (previously played by Steve Burton until the character’s “death” in 2012).

On the series, Jason Morgan had been presumed dead, but his body was never found, and a few weeks back, viewers saw what appeared to be Jason (or at least his arms) stirring awake from a cryogenic sleep. An ABC release promises that with Jason’s imminent return, “fans can look forward to an exciting new story that will be full of the twists & turns along with shocking revelations that have made General Hospital infamous for over five decades.”

Billy Miller is a three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner (Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2010 and 2013, and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2014), and comes to GH from The Young and the Restless, where he played Billy Abbott from 2008 until this year.

“I am really excited to be working with such a talented and acclaimed actor as Billy,” General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini said in the release. “Our cast is thrilled that he will be joining our General Hospital family, and I know that he will be an amazing addition to our talented cast.”

No word in the announcement on when Billy Miller will start appearing on GH.
