2015 NASCAR TV schedule

NASCAR embraces change as much as it does tradition, and 2015 is no exception as the sport implements ways to cut teams’ costs while improving competition and the fan experience. Here’s what’s new at the races:
New Schedule Atlanta is now the site of the Cup Series’ second race of the season, and Darlington moves back to its traditional Labor Day weekend date. There will be a new “West Coast swing” with consecutive March races in Las Vegas, Phoenix and Fontana, Calif. Bristol’s spring date moves from March to April 19. The spring night race at Texas moves back to a Saturday (April 11), but Daytona’s summer race moves to a Sunday night (July 5). Kansas and Charlotte swap October dates in the Chase.
New Rules The Cup Series rules package for 2015 introduces a ban on private testing, with stiff penalties for violations. Horsepower will be reduced from 850 to 725 at most tracks, and rear spoiler changes will reduce downforce.
New Teams Carl Edwards heads to Joe Gibbs Racing to drive the No. 19 Toyota with crew chief Darian Grubb. Trevor Bayne takes over the No. 6 full-time for Roush Fenway Racing. Keith Rodden returns to Hendrick Motorsports as Kasey Kahne’s crew chief, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a new crew chief in Greg Ives.
New Sponsors NASCAR’s junior circuit is now the XFINITY Series in a new 10-year agreement. Sprint will not renew its title sponsorship of the Cup Series after 2016, but Camping World will remain the Truck Series title sponsor through at least 2022.
New TV Deals FOX and NBC enter the first year of a 10-year, $8.2 billion broadcast deal with NASCAR. FOX airs most of the early Cup schedule, with FOX Sports 1 airing most late spring/early summer races. NBC takes over July 5 at Daytona, with NBCSN airing most of the summer schedule, and NBC and NBCSN splitting the Chase races. The XFINITY Series has a similar TV arrangement to the Cup Series, and the Truck Series airs almost entirely on FS1.

  1. Why don’t you put the Race back on Fox and the local stations I can’t afford the extra cable. NASCAR will have fans not tune in and lose interest if they don’t get to see the races.

  2. NASCAR is trying to shakedown as much money as possible from its TV contracts and to hell with the fan base. Premium service TV to watch a 4 + hour 500 mile race packed with commercials? I don’t think so. I love circle track auto racing but I’m not gonna get run over. I’m hoping they go broke quickly so someone with half a brain can re-organize this mess.

  3. No racing on FOX or NBC! I don’t get nbcsn so I can’t enjoy any racing except a hit and miss on NBC. The FOX network is the best in the business why are they not on the schedule? A long time race fan and retired now and no racing!

  4. Please, please bring back the FOX Broadcasting Team! NBC’s team and coverage is terrible.

  5. My husband has been a longtime NASCAR fan. From watching races to purchasing thousands of dollars worth of NASCAR “stuff” including books, die-cast cars and videos. Now that he is retired, and recently became ill, he looks forward to the racing season each year. He was so surprised, saddened, and now angry to see that you have moved some races to NBCSports net.Over the years we have upgraded our cable to be able to see the races…NO More! ):

  6. All our great American passtimes like our beloved sports shows are being over commercialized. If I want to see football M, TH, F, Sn nights I must purchase a sports package, if I want to see my fav NASCAR I have to have a most expensive service package. It rely depresses me, deeply.

  7. Not happy at all with the scheduling of the Nascar racing on NBC. I don’t have NBCSN and feel like the cable network is forcing me to purchase a channel that I can’t afford to watch a sport that I like to watch on TV. I guess that the radio will become the way that I will get my racing fix. It is a shame that NBC didn’t let the race fans know that they would be showing the major racing events on their sports channel and if you don’t have it you are screwed.
