Recap Dancing With the Stars, “Latin Night” Season 20, Episode 3.

It’s one of the hottest weeks of the season, where everyone feels a little steamy and the dances get a bit naughty. Practice trilling your “r”s, because it’s Dancing With the Stars, “Latin Night.”

After an opening number choreographed by Mandy Moore (not the singer/actress, the award-winning choreographer), the teams get to work performing either a Samba, Rumba, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Paso Doble or Cha Cha as they compete for America’s votes.

Dancing With the Stars, "Latin Night"

Last week, Redfoo and his partner Emma Slator were the first couple eliminated in the competition.  Do you think they deserved to go home first? I would have loved to see Redfoo in a Latin dance, but DWTS is all about fan support, if you have a lot of fans, or can connect with the audience, you’ll go far well in the competition.  I think this season has the fewest “poor dancers” that I’ve ever seen in the competition.  Usually, there are a few clunkers, but this season everyone seems really intent in going home with the fabulous golden mirror ball.

How how was the opening number. I have no idea what song they were dancing to, if made me feel like a tune from a sexy Ricky Ricardo with a tribal vibe. And since it’s Latin Night, basically everyone who can be mostly naked, will be mostly naked.

Rumer Willis & Valentin Chmerkovskiy 1-855-234-5610
Dancing a Salsa to “Turn the Beat Around” by Gloria Estefan.
I’ve never heard of a Disco Salsa, but way to invent a mash up, DWTS. And since it’s DWTS, there’s got to be a cheesy video to go with it, so they head to a roller disco to get in the funk. While there, Rumer hits Val in the face with her lady bit-bone and splits his lip. Gross. Rumer looks amazing in a nude sparkly outfit that has a very bare belly are. Ru looks amazing and you can tell that he’s either had amazing dance lessons as a kid, or has spent a lot of time in the clubs. She can move and when she does, it looks hot, even if it’s Disco!
Len: That was the best dance I’ve seen this season.
Julianne: Let loos a little bit, you were a little sharp. I loved it.
Bruno: Monday Night Fever starts right here!
Carrie Ann: When you hit the salsa, it was fantastic. Rumer your body is incredible!
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 8, Len: 9, Julianne: 8, Bruno: 8, total 33 out of 40

Charlotte McKinney & Keo Motsepe 1-855-234-5601
Dancing a Rhumba to “Empire” by Shakira
This morning, I just realized that last week, Charlotte looked like a sexy FemBot from Austin Powers. Charlotte reveals that she’d dyslexic so she gets lefts and rights confused. She’s also been testing Keo’s patience by spending lots of time on her e-mail. I’m not sure if Charlotte realizes that this is her chance but also Keo’s dance. He’s a Latin Dancing specialist! She’s wasting a chance to let him shine too! Charlotte has amazing flexibility and When Keo took his shirt off, I nearly fainted, but there wasn’t enough dance to support the beautiful moments!
Julianne: I’m so sad. This dance your have shown this potential. But you didn’t take Keo’s instruction.
Bruno: You’re never going to win the Nobel Price for quantum physics, but you re easy on the eyes. OUCH Bruno! So sexist and mean!
Carrie Ann: I think the reason everyone is being hard on you because when you hit the lines, it’s gorgeous. You did two drags!
Len: You get out what you put in. The more you sweat, the better you get.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 6, Len: 5, Julianne: 5, Bruno: 6, total 22 out of 40

Michael Sam & Peta Murgatroyd 1-855-234-5603
Dancing a Salsa to “Celebrate” by Pitbull
Their pre-dance package shows some pretty intense lifts. He’s a big strong man who literally tosses her like she was a pair of socks. And during the dance, not only did Peeta look so sexy and hot, but Michael was solid as a rock in those difficult lifts.
Bruno: you’ve got so much muscle power, It amazes me that you can control it.
Carrie Ann: That made me so nervous the entire time!
Len: I thought the lifts were good! But tonight was not so good.
Julianne: The footwork for your hip action, you tapped them, so work on that.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 6, Len: 6, Julianne: 6, Bruno: 6, total 24 out of 40.

Riker Lynch & Allison Holker 1-855-234-5608
Dancing the Salsa to “Limbo” by Daddy Yankee
Yay! Riker has smooth hair again. I hope this trend continues. Riker isn’t feeling like he can be sexy, and is afraid that sexy means shirtless. We did get a peek at his perfect abs at the end of the dance, but this sexier Riker was amazing! Allison’s chorography was really exciting! She has so much talent and they create a really fun couple to watch.
Carrie Ann: I see a male contender for the title there! You blew my mind!
Len: So far, you’re not the best dancer, this season. But you could be, because you’ve got flair.
Julianne: That was a salsa. Everything about it was fast and energetic!
Bruno: Salsa full throttle, no speed restriction, going for gold!
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 9, Len: 7, Julianne: 9, Bruno: 9, total 34 out of 40.

Dancing With the Stars, "Latin Night"Suzanne Somers & Tony Dovolani
1-855-234-5611
Dancing a Samba to “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow
Last week, Suzanne and Tony got good scores and Suzanne’s getting greedy. When I say greedy, I mean she wants all of the fruit in the ABC commissary, because he’s is wearing the most ridiculous headwear ever. Suz, on DWTS, props are not a good thing! Suzanne actually owns a fruit hat of her own. Of course she does. Thankfully, after a few minutes of dancing, someone mercifully removes most of the nightmare from her headdress, but the Gertrude McFuzz mess on her rear remained. And the dancing became a feathered mess too.
Len: It was Sexy Summer at the Copacabana
Julianne: Tony, that Samba has a lot of content. There was a mistake in the middle, but it was fun.
Bruno: There was a little muddiness in the middle, but it was great.
Carrie Ann: I thought it was fun and what a Samba should be. I want more depth.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 6, Len: 6, Julianne: 6, Bruno: 7, total 25 out of 40.

Chris Soules & Witney Carson 1-855-234-5602
Dancing an Argentine Tango to “Dangerous” by David Guetta featuring Sam Martin
After last week’s disastrous performance, Chris was feeling like he betrayed himself and Witney. But this week, he’s doing the Argentine Tango; so perhaps channeling a Goucho will allow the sexy farmer to find himself. Thankfully, they put Chris in all black and he basically melted into the unremarkable background where he belonged. Witney stole that performance, she was awesome as usual. I feel like I was watching a different performance than the judges; in my book, it was just OK.
Carrie Ann: You were powerful; you were magnificent.
Len: You did exactly what you were supposed to do. That was the best dance you’ve done.
Julianne: You are the comeback kid!
Bruno: So much stronger, so much connected.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 7, Len: 7, Julianne: 7, Bruno: 7, total 28 out of 40.

Robert Herjavec & Kym Johnson 1-855-234-5609
Dancing the Rumba to “How Long Will I Love You” by Ellie Goulding
Robert is going for broke and he’s fighting through pain from a past injury. It’s sweet to see him really want this. And this week he’s brought ferocity and passion to the dance that is really sexy.
Bruno: Beautifully Committed performance.
Carrie Ann: Your chemistry is ridiculous and it’s so positive! I want you to provide a firmer frame for Kim.
Len: You’re middle of the pack at the moment. Everything is good, but not great.
Julianne: I disagree with everyone, I thought that was one of your best performances. That was raw and vulnerable.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 7, Len: 7, Julianne: 8, Bruno: 7, total 29 out of 40.

Willow Shields & Mark Ballas 1-855-234-5612
Dancing a Paso Doble to “Hanuman” by Rodrigo y Gabriela
Willow has been assigned the Paso Doble, a tough dance for anyone, but especially challenging for a 14 year-old girl. Mark is a master of staging, but this week, his costuming was too stark and handmade-feeling. The dance was brilliant, and is a testament to Mark’s genius and Willow’s toughness.
Len: First Paso of the season, that is going to be hard to beat.
Julianne: Every single week you’re improved. Slow and steady wins the race.
Bruno: My little Mockingjay is catching fire!
Carrie Ann: When you get on the dance floor, you are at that level.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 8, Len: 8, Julianne: 8, Bruno: 8, total 32 out of 40.

Dancing With the Stars, "Latin Night"Noah Galloway & Sharna Burgess 1-855-234-5605
Dancing an Argentine Tango to “Rather Be” by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne
This is Noah’s first time really wearing a prosthetic arm, which he doesn’t like and would rather not wear. So be makes the brace decision, two days before show day to dance with one arm.
Julianne: That was the best dance that you’ve done. I’m blown away.
Bruno: That was miraculous. The interpretation of the dance was spot-on.
Carrie Ann: The impact of the movement was fantastic.
Len: You’re my hero. You’re imaginative chorography was fantastic Well done.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 7, Len: 7, Julianne: 8, Bruno: 8, total 30 out of 40.

Nastia Liukin & Derek Hough 1-855-234-5604
Dancing a Samba to “Chillando Goma” by Fulanito
The last of the night is Derek and Nastia. I interviewed Derek last week (you’ll get to read my interview next Monday) and he told me about his crazy practice schedule with Nastia. Now I’m learning that they work together even less than I thought. She flies to L.A. a few days beforehand and works with another male dancer so she’s learning the routine from two different sources! This week, Derek Accidentally stepped on Nastia’s thumb and a lesser person would have sat this one out, but Nastia is a tough competitor and will her way through it. Their dance was so much better than I could have done but her hyper-flexibility was freaking me out.
Bruno: Tribal, Exhilarating, almost inebriating!
Carrie Ann: Over-extend all you want
Len: One things for sure, you’re not going home tonight.
Julianne: Stop with the loosy-goosy noodle arms.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 9, Len: 8, Julianne: 9, Bruno: 8, total 34 out of 40.

Basically, the show is out of time. So the elimination will be quick. Noah & Sharna, Charlotte & Keo, and Chris and Witney are in jeopardy. Of course, Noah and Sharna are quickly announced as safe. His soldier girlfriend just got home; we’re not heartless! Charlotte and Keo were eliminated, and I feel like she knew it was coming. After the elimination, she apologized to Keo, I’m sure she could have given it her all.

Dancing With the Stars features Julianne Hough, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba at the judges table and is hosted by Emmy Award-winning host Tom Bergeron (America’s Funniest Home Videos) and Erin Andrews (sports host & Dancing With the Stars Season 10 finalist).
