Jonny GrayActor Jonny Gray plays pro snowboarder Max Asher in the hot kids series, Max & Shred. The series airs on Nickelodeon in the U.S. and YTV in Canada, where the series films. He revealed, “I just hope when I’m out snowboarding, that somebody’s not going to recognize me, because then they’re going to be like, ‘Oh, you know, go do something crazy.’ It’s like, ‘Yeah, I can’t.'” When Jonny took a break from shooting Season 2 of Max & Shred for an interview, he answered our 7 Questions.

1. What is a Movie you can watch over and over again?
I’ve seen some pretty amazing movies. I’m a big movie guy, but I’m a huge Lord of the Rings trilogy guy, and The Hobbit movies. I just watched those. I’m definitely a Lord of the Rings guy, I don’t know why. It tickles my fancy.

2. What are three shows, or networks, that you love watching on TV?
Comedy Central, YTV/ Nickelodeon, of course … and Sports Center on ESPN. I also like American Dad or Family Guy. I’m big into the comedies, so they’re hilarious.

3. What’s a book that you’ve read recently that you’d recommend to other kids?
I read Maze Runner, and Maze Runner has literally been my favorite book I’ve ever read, period. It’s such an inspiring book. It’s such an amazingly written. The movie was great, too. Oh yeah, it was just such an amazing book, honestly.

4. What has been your “OMG!” moment where you’ve gotten completely starstruck?
I was sitting on the orange carpet at the KCAs, and after having a little photo fashion thing, some guys wanted to take a picture of what I was wearing. I turned to my right, because he’s telling me to look over there, and next thing I know, I’m standing a meter away from Chris Rock!

He’s just walking right by me, and I just quickly said, “Hey,” like, “Hey, Chris,” and he turned, and he looked at me, and I shook his hand, and I had a little 30 second conversation with him. I was just in awe after. My heart was pounding. My head was just kind of like, feel like it was just spinning, and I was freaking out. I’m like, “Wow, do I ever want to come back here.”

5. What has been one of your most memorable fan encounters?
I was at a Knights game once, and I was standing in line — the London Knights, that’s my hometown OHL [Ontario Hockey League] team, and there was this little girl in front of me, and she turned around, and she quickly turned back. I just didn’t think of it. I was just thinking, “Oh, what am I going to get, popcorn, this or that?”

Next thing I know, she is freaking out. She is just practically crying. Her mom’s having to hold her back, and her little brother’s hiding behind her mom. I just thought that was hilarious. She was so shocked and she was so happy and excited, and I just thought that was really awesome, just to see how much people really love this show.

6. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A doctor. I wanted to be a surgeon, because both my parents are doctors, as well, and I’ve always just loved caring for people and wanting to help them, and make everything better. I’ve just always been inspired in the field of medicine, so I just always wanted to take that on as a career and strive for that.

7. If you weren’t an actor, what would you be doing right now, at 1:20pm on a Tuesday?
I’d be at school, studying hard. I’m a big math and science guy. Those are my two favorite subjects. Yeah, I love math and science.
