ANTM Goes Dragalicious, Officially

by WindUpDoll/Ruth Anne Boulet

I’ve decided that this cycle of America’s Next Top Model, I should drop the alias and come clean. Start fresh. Admit that part of my work duties include blogging trashy TV. Tyra is starting Cycle 11 with a new beginning in Los Angeles. Because, you know, ANTM has never been in LA before.

I learned this before from Sarah Palin, but one of the Alaskan semifinalist (Hannah) says that LA is way different from Alaska. Thanks for confirming Hannah!

The Jays are dressed in space age dress introducing the Top Model School of Technology. These girls are on a top-secret classified mission. The girls all have to dress in a hootchie Star Trek outfit with 80s boots.

Mr Jay is looking very, very 80s. His hair reminds me of Fred from Scooby Doo. Or part of the Ambiguously Gay Duo. Or Xandir P. Wifflebottom from Drawn Together.

Miss J is looking for scientifically superior walk. Joslyn throws in a twirl. It could’ve been a swirl, but I think it’s a twirl. [Read more →]

Whitney Reacts To Winning ANTM

By WindUpDoll

Not much for me to say, but to show you what I found on YouTube:

And on Regis & Kelly:

The One Where We Crown America’s Next Top Model

by WindUpDoll

Anya speaks first on this final episode of ANTM, which in seasons past has foretold who wins the whole thing.

The girls go over their individual insecurities, and then the TyraMail they’ve been waiting for arrives. The girls also get their lines for the Cover Girl Ad. So they’ve had all night to work with the lines.

Saleisha shows up at the Cover Girl commercial shoot, which psyches the girls up. While talking to Whitney, Saleisha notices that Anya is having a meltdown while getting her makeup done. It’s probably because of that sleep deprivation I heard about on NPR this morning. Seriously, Robert Siegel mispronounced Fatima’s name. [Read more →]

ANTM Is Nearing The Answer To The Question

by WindUpDoll

I’m coming in to this late kids. Sorry about that. I’ll adjust the recap on Sunday when they repeat the episode.

So the girls have to play photographer. Anya needs to reign in her energy. Are we surprised? Whitney gets good feedback. Paulina thought Anya was the most fun, but the least focused. Fatima had a lot of variety. Dominique’s composition wasn’t there. Paulina had a lot of cactus hats. Fatima ends up winning the challenge, and it’s her first one. [Read more →]

ANTM Goes Gladiator

by WindUpDoll

Whitney thinks she comes off as fake because she’s nervous. Fatima thinks the girls are jealous of how strong she’s getting. She also talks about how even she forgets about Katarzyna, and she lives with her.

Anya is confused by the TyraMail. Anya seems like she would be confused by many things.

The girls are taken to a field with what we assume are ruins and there are several ‘gladiators’ fighting. The girls get their own lessons in gladiator fighting, which, of course they have to combine with looking fierce. Fatima is getting confused and admits she doesn’t like fighting. Can’t imagine why. However, when Fatima can fight Dominique, she gets into it. [Read more →]

An ANTM Health Warning

by WindUpDoll

Kids, I’m generally not an off-day poster, but I thought this story was more of a public service than a post.

Please, please don’t talk while your favorite programming is on. Especially America’s Next Top Model.

Discuss.

Time For the ANTM Girls To Mispronunskiate Eyetailian

by WindUpDoll

Dominique, Rhodes’ scholar, says going to Rome is like going to a museum. They have old buildings there — really old! Lauren doesn’t fit in with the other girls, but she’s totally psyched about getting this far. Whitney is feeling plus pride at being the farthest-going plus-size contestant. Anya totally biffs when getting out of the minivan. Fatima claims that she’s back, with a bang! Ah, yes, the confidence before the language-barrier meltdowns.

TyraMail comes in the form of a picture of Tyra as the Mona Lisa. The Rome Top Model house is, of course, gorgeous. Katarzyna calls it off the chain. I guess that’s what the kids say these days.

Then Fatima gets sick. So, of course the girls talk about her over dinner. Anya gets sick of the cattiness and decides to bring Fatima some food. Can’t understand half of what Anya is saying, but she seems nice in comparison to the rest of the America’s Next Top Model girls.

The next morning, Lauren gets up before the other girls and is apparently loud about it. Fatima is still sick. Anya thinks the TyraMail, with references to rolling means they’ll go on a river. She admits that things just come to her at times. Okey dokey.

Time To Travel On ANTM, But Where

by WindUpDoll

This episode begins with all the girls thinking about how they have to step up their game. They all want to be America’s Next Top Model.

Fatima is worried about more practical matters — silly girl lost her travel documents. She’s not a US citizen so she really, really needs to get her act together and get those papers. She didn’t want to have to think about the documents, but now that she may be leaving the country, it’s a very real possibility that she’ll need them.

Paulina Porizkova makes a surprise visit to the girls to give them a lesson on how to present yourself effectively. She plays a party game with them. Paulina is transformed to Miss DuBois, a bitchy woman at a party that the girls need to try and impress. Anya does well in Paulina’s eyes.

Then Paulina plays a perky reporter asking questions. Dominique can’t speak in sound bites. Duh. Whitney answers well but has dead eyes. [Read more →]

Go-Sees Come Early To ANTM

by WindUpDoll

The title of this episode of America’s Next Top Model is: ‘If You Can’t Make It Here, You Can’t Make It Anywhere.’ That’s right! Tonight is early go-see episode!

We begin with Whitney talking about how America is ready for a plus-size Top Model. Oh, Whitney. Dominique thinks Whitney is intimidated by Dominique’s confidence. Oh, Dominique. Lauren was disappointed in Claire’s display at panel. Oh, Lauren.
The Who Does The Dishes Argument! Fatima made coffee for herself, and apparently Lauren tossed it out by accident. Fatima, rightly, wants Lauren to just say she did it. Lauren goes off the handle. Someone appears to be cranky in the morning.

Some woman from Elle introduces the ‘go-see’ concept to the girls. The girls will get a Sprint navigational cell phone and have to go in groups of four. They also have to walk. Thanks Sprint! GPS will surely help these girls out! Stacy-Ann LOVES this phone! She so needs it! Team 2 decides to rely solely on the Sprint phone, and not ask Lauren, the girl from Brooklyn, to help out. That’s a plan, girls.

ANTM Visits The House of Pain

by WindUpDoll

Aimee is in awe of all the compliments she’s gotten. Claire is missing her husband and daughter. Apparently she still pumps her breast milk for her daughter. I assume she then ships that? Not quite sure how that works.

Then we have our first fight — Dominique sets her alarm way early and since the girls sleep in one room, it’s torquing a lot of people off, especially Claire. The editors make it seem like this fight goes on all day. Lauren calls Dominique verbal diarrhea. So of course Dominique goes in the phone room and talks to her mom. She feels hurt. Boo-hoo Dominique. I’d want to slap you too if you let your alarm go off seven times without shutting it off. [Read more →]
