Fans of NBC Fall TV, The Future Is Now!

Posted by johnnysweeptheleg

If you’re anything like me, then you have a penchant for ’80s movies and still re-live the moment you were kicked in the face by a kid doing something called a crane kick. But it also means you are eagerly awaiting the fall television season.

Lucky for us, Hulu and NBC are giving us the Hulu Fall Lineup. Beginning today, and running over the next seven weeks, Hulu will air many of NBC’s season premieres a week early online. For those who have been waiting decades for another Knight Rider, your wait just got diminished by a week. Life and Lipstick Jungle also premiere a week earlier.

Perhaps the show to benefit the most from this, however, is Chuck. NBC has high hopes for its sophomore season, even ordering an additional nine episodes after the network saw its first six completed shows (raising its season order from 13 to 22 episodes). Chuck fans can watch the season premiere a week early online, with its Hulu premiere beginning Sept. 22.

Still no word on whether or not NBC and Hulu will power up the Flux Capacitor to bring us advanced airings of Saturday Night Live. I’m going out on a limb here, and leaning towards no.

Castaways Announced For Survivor: Gabon

by Zhillbear

Survivor: Gabon castCBS has announced the 18 castaways who will be “battling extreme conditions and interacting with wildlife such as elephants and gorillas” on Survivor: Gabon — Earth’s Last Eden, premiering Sept. 25. Host Jeff Probst says, “In a strange coincidence to ‘Earth’s Last Eden,’ good vs. evil emerges as a major theme this season.” Last season’s James and his “Don’t bite the apple” catchphrase would’ve fit in beautifully.

The castaways, in alphabetical order, are:

Big Brother 10 Preview

Posted by johnnysweeptheleg

Did you realize Big Brother has been around as many years as Survivor? The television series Survivor. Not the ones who gave birth to Eye of the Tiger. The 10th season begins this Sunday at 8pm EST/PST, and airs every Tuesday (9pm E/P), Wednesday and Sunday (8pm E/P) on CBS. The 13 houseguests have been revealed. The Big Brother cast consists of Winston Smith, Julia, O’Brien, Emmanuel Goldstein and George Orwell, among others. Woops. Sorry. Wrong Big Brother page on Wikipedia.

For the first time in years, the cast is made up of complete strangers. No secret lovers. No bitter exes. And no long-lost brothers and sisters. Although, after three months of being locked up in a house with the same people, there will be plenty of fighting like brothers and sisters, with at least a secret romance or two developing, and then the eventual bitter break-up.

Among my early favorites I’ll be watching in night vision
… and I mean that in a non-stalker way … the show uses night vision: [Read more →]

Getting Lost: “There’s No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3″ Preview

This is it. The last Lost preview of the season. Thursday night, beginning at 8pm ET/7pm CT, ABC will air an encore of “There’s No Place Like Home, Part 1″ with never-before-seen bonus footage followed by the two-hour season finale. It’s been an incredible season so far, and it promises to get even better during the final two hours. Without further ado, here’s a preview clip from the episode, plus an interesting video of Matthew Fox’s audition for the role of … Sawyer.

Getting Lost: “There’s No Place Like Home, Part 1″ Preview

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg

This week’s episode of Lost, “There’s No Place Like Home, Part 1,” is the first installment of the season’s three-part finale, which — in one of the most complicated finale schedules we can remember — airs two weeks before the two-hour presentation of Parts 2 and 3 on May 29. That’s right. Lost is going on yet another mini-hiatus, thanks to a two-hour Grey’s Anatomy season finale on May 22.

That aside, we wanted to discuss something from last week’s episode. During “Cabin Fever,” Ben suggested that he wasn’t always the “leader” of the island. So who was? How nice of you to ask. We have our own crazy little theory: It seems Richard Alpert might have been Ben’s predecessor before he took on a new role, in which he was subservient to Ben — much like Ben has now done with Locke. Looking to the future, it seems like Walt and Aaron might become the future Ben and Locke. It seems that Ben, in his own way (cough*kidnapping*cough), wanted to recruit the two of them, much like Alpert did with Ben and Locke. Maybe hearing this from Christian Shephard was why Claire was willing to leave Aaron behind — “where he needs to be” — while she hangs out with her dead dad in Jacob’s cabin. Just putting it out there.

Anyway, here are the preview clips:

Getting Lost: “Cabin Fever” Preview

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg

As usual, Lost has been pretty confusing lately. For every answer we get, a whole batch of new questions arise. But one thing we’re sure about, is that the last few episodes of this season are going to be awesome — beginning with this week’s “Cabin Fever,” which takes us back to the freighter to see what’s up with Desmond, Sayid and Michael. Any episode with Desmond in it is sure to be a good one, but we really get the feeling that there are some major doin’s a-transpiring. For a hint as to what those might be, check out the two preview clips below, the first of which comes from Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (And, by the way, as much as we like Terrence Howard, we think Cuse and Lindelof are probably pretty happy with their decision to cast Harold Perrineau as Michael. We certainly are. Also, we miss Mr. Eko. That is all.)

Getting Lost: “Something Nice Back Home” Preview

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg

ABC has been running previews for this week’s episode that contain the line, “The island takes one survivor for its own.” Does that mean that another character will be meeting an untimely end, a week after we said goodbye to Alex (not to mention three random members of Locke’s camp who were too stupid to listen to Sawyer — and the sound of gunfire — and stay inside their house)? Maybe, although it’s a pretty open-ended statement. Still, after watching the previews below, we’d be a little worried if we were Claire, Sawyer or Miles.

Getting Lost: “The Shape of Things to Come” Preview

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg

Well, that wasn’t so bad. Lost’s mini-hiatus comes to a close this week with the premiere of a new episode titled “The Shape of Things to Come. ” If the following preview clip is any indication, that shape is a trapezoid — long known to be the most dangerous and action-packed of all the shapes. Seriously, it looks like some major stuff is about to go down on Lost island. Watch and see if you agree, then scroll down to check out our running list of unanswered questions from this season.

Update: A couple of other previews have surfaced. This one in particular is going to make these last few hours before the show seem like an eternity. We need to know what happens … now.

Getting Lost: “Meet Kevin Johnson” Preview

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg

Just a quick note before we get on with the preview: This week’s episode of Lost is the last one until April 24, when ABC moves the show to its new time slot at 10pm ET. Hopefully “Meet Kevin Johnson” will give us something to think about over the five weeks between new episodes.

The teaser trailer following last week’s episode told us that someone will die this week. We’re on record as predicting Claire. Or Sawyer. Maybe someone else. We’re wishy-washy like that.

There are only so many characters left whose death would have an impact. The Oceanic 6 can be ruled out. We don’t believe the show could function without Locke or Ben. They wouldn’t dare kill off Bernard or Rose. (OK, they might … but why?) And we already know that Jin dies at some point. (Or at least we assume we know it.) That pretty much leaves Claire, Sawyer, Desmond, Michael, Juliet and the Freighties. (We guess there are others, but would you care if Rousseau, Alex or Karl got whacked?) Of those, Claire — as pleasant as she is to look at — seems to be the most dispensable. But what do we know? On with the preview:

Getting Lost: “Ji Yeon” Preview

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg

In our last preview, we bemoaned the fact that we had been getting more questions than answers from Lost lately. That didn’t exactly change with last week’s episode, “The Other Woman.” We did knock four questions off our list while only adding two going, but that was the result of us being very judicious about what we added. Or us just being lazy. Whatever. We did get one bombshell — that we all sort of suspecting was coming anyway — when Charles Widmore’s involvement with the freighter team was revealed. We’re hoping for a few more developments this week, but the previews don’t reveal much. That either means there’s nothing to reveal or that the episode is so packed full of answers that only the most benign scenes could be revealed in the trailers. We’ll leave it up to you to decide which is more likely.

On with the preview:
