“Feherty” returns for Season 2 on GOLF CHANNEL

If getting fired was David Feherty’s goal, then his show on GOLF CHANNEL is a colossal failure. “I’ve been in TV now nearly 16 years, and people say, ‘What are your ambitions?’ And I say, ‘I just try to go out every day and try to get fired,’” Feherty tells me. “So far, no one takes me seriously enough to actually get fired, you know?” Not only is his show returning for another season, but it’s getting bigger, too. Season 2 of Feherty will expand to 18 hourlong episodes and moves to Mondays beginning Feb. 27 at 10pm ET. Last […]

7 Questions With … Heat Seekers’ Roger Mooking

1. If your TV only aired three shows, which three would you want? Everyday Exotic, Heat Seekers Season 1 and Heat Seekers Season 2. If that’s not fair, then Married With Children, any documentary on drug trafficking, and Hoarders. Or Intervention. 2. You’re at a magazine rack and can only pick three titles. Which ones do you choose? Vogue Entertaining + Travel, Architectural Digest and National Geographic. 3. When was the last time you were starstruck? Good question! Maybe when I met Emeril Lagasse at the Cooking Channel launch party. He is the godfather of it all. 4. When was […]

VOD Spotlight: “The Rum Diary” is Johnny Depp’s salute to Hunter S. Thompson

There’s something gratifying about the friendship that developed between author and infamous gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson and Johnny Depp. Maybe it’s because it’s easy to imagine Thompson spewing abuse at a Hollywood icon of Depp’s stature. Or maybe it’s because it gives Depp’s fans the security that, yes, he really is kind of a weird guy in real life. Whatever it is, fans of Depp and Thompson should be grateful for The Rum Diary — both the book and the film. The Rum Diary was written in the early 1960s, before Thompson got caught up in the tumult of […]

Steve Little talks Season Bleeping 3 of HBO’s raunch fest “Eastbound & Down”

Kenny Powers has inspired a devoted cult following of real-world fans — Google “Kenny Powers tattoos” at your own risk — but there are still none that can compare to the character’s sidekick on Eastbound & Down, the ever-loyal Stevie Janowski. Steve Little embodies the lovable sycophant so believably that many people approach him as though they are talking not to an accomplished comedic actor but to the sweet simpleton who thinks nothing of rearranging his life to follow his idol even while absorbing inhuman amounts of abuse from him. Little said he doesn’t mind the confusion, and that he’s […]

Full Life: John Stamos talks 30 years of good TV vibes

Here’s the thing about John Stamos: Everybody knows him. Kindergartners getting their first look at kid-cuddling, mullet-rockin’ musician Uncle Jesse Katsopolis on Full House reruns approach Stamos on the street to ask why his hair’s so short. Mom and Dad both recall Stamos as Uncle Jesse from their own youth and also as ER’s paramedic-turned-intern Dr. Tony Gates as they got older. And Mom and Grandma likely share feverish memories of Stamos’ entrée to television as raven-haired rock roll runaway Blackie Parrish on General Hospital. And then there are generations of Beach Boys fans who hope Stamos will appear with […]

“The Simpsons” at 500 — our favorite episodes

The Simpsons airs its 500th episode Feb. 19 at 8pm ET/PT on FOX, as part of its 23rd season (and it will be running through at least Season 25, and Episode No. 559). By now, its longevity, and the numbers and records it keeps racking up year after year, are no longer surprising. It’s become one of those things that is just always there. To an entire generation of viewers, it always has been there; and even to those of us who were around pre-Simpsons, it honestly has become hard to remember that long-ago period, when Homer and his family […]

Kevin Smith assembles “Comic Book Men” reality show for AMC

By Stacey Harrison The geeks may have inherited the Earth, but so far they have yet to conquer reality TV. That will change if a new decree about to be handed down from one of their patron saints takes hold. Kevin Smith, the director of such sacred geek scripture as Clerks, Mallrats and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, is invading the small screen with Comic Book Men, an AMC series debuting Feb. 12 that will chronicle the personalities and transactions that populate Secret Stash, Smith’s Red Bank, N.J., comic book store. Incorporating elements of such reality staples as Pawn […]
