Beloved boxer, philanthropist and American icon Muhammad Ali died June 3 at age 74  after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. As an athlete, he won the gold medal in the 1960 Summer Olympics in the light heavyweight division. He then won the world heavyweight championship in 1964, 1974 and 1978. Outside of the ring, he was an inspiration to many for his work as a philanthropist and his vocal opposition to the Vietnam War. He earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005.
