Like many a soap opera storyline, the saga of SOAPnet’s ultimate fate has been stretched out for a long time now, with many fans of the channel wondering, “When is SOAPnet going off the air?” ever since word started in 2011 that the network would be ending and making way for Disney Junior. The legendary daytime drama One Life to Live will soon disappear into television history when it ends its 43-year run Jan. 13 on ABC. To send the soap off, ABC’s sister network, SOAPnet, will be airing 14 classic episodes of the show in a daylong marathon Jan. 1, from 10am-midnight ET/PT. The marathon will include memorable episodes, such as Tina going over the waterfall, the Buchanans in the Old West, an episode from the 2002 week of live episodes and more. As the countdown continues until September 23, when ABC ends the television run of the daytime drama All My Children after 41 years, its sister network, SOAPnet, will celebrate the series with a two-day marathon of classic episodes, September 17 from 7pm-midnight ET/PT, and September 18 from 5pm-midnight ET/PT. In July, ABC Daytime is launching a series of “What If” webisodes on abc.com and soapnet.com that answer the questions, “What would happen if two characters from different soap operas ran into each other? What would they say?” The 10-part series, which will also air in condensed versions on ABC Daytime and SOAPnet, includes popular characters from All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital interacting with each other.
