You may have seen or at least heard about the controversial finish to an Olympic women’s fencing semifinal yesterday, when what appeared to be a clock malfunction gave Germany’s Britta Heidemann a victory over South Korea’s Shin A Lam. A devastated Shin remained on the piste (the platform thingy they sword fight on, I guess) for over an hour waiting for her appeal to be heard. The geniuses at UK’s The Guardian have a video re-creation of the fiasco … with LEGO! Seriously, I would watch all sports if they were done with LEGO. Each of the series’ six hours is tied to life in a particular habitat, looking at mankind’s relationship with nature and how people have found ways to survive and thrive in the extremes of our planet. The Discovery/BBC co-production was shot in 70 locations over four years. Here [...]

By Mike Frey Michael begins this week’s episode by calling Oscar into his office and asking his advice — as a gay man —about going in for a colonoscopy. After that, it’s easy to see why someone wouldn’t want to invite him to a meeting, so it’s no surprise that Jim has done his best to keep him out of a closed-door session with David Wallace. Upset that he has been excluded, Michael begins to worry that David is taking to Jim about replacing him as branch manager — which he is. But what Michael doesn’t realize is that it’s [...]
