The April 2014 cover of Channel Guide MagazineAre you a TV fanatic with a knack for words and a passion for connecting with others? Channel Guide Magazine has a fun, flexible internship opportunity awaiting you.

We’re looking for talented writers and bloggers with unique and insightful things to say about their favorite shows to enhance our online writing staff. We don’t want someone to just give us the play-by-play; we want wordsmiths who can write about and recap a series in a fresh, fun way that will entertain fellow fans as much as the show itself.

This unpaid internship is a great chance to establish your byline, earn academic credit and build your professional portfolio with a nationally recognized publication. Future paid assignments and print opportunities are possible for the right candidate.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Be a journalism/English student or graduate with solid writing and grammar skills and a unique voice you’re eager to share and cultivate.
  • Be a passionate TV watcher. We want our bloggers to look forward to engaging with their audience and finding new ways to get them to come back for more.
  • Be quick and accurate. Recapping is all about timeliness. The Channel Guide staff is here to support you and edit your work, but submitting your best work on the first try is essential.
  • Be social-media savvy. Knowledge of WordPress and search engine optimization is a definite plus.

Candidate Benefits:

  • Bylined exposure on the website of a national television magazine.
  • Feedback from working journalists in the entertainment field.
  • Opportunity for local candidates to work in the Channel Guide office, take part in editorial and web meetings with Channel Guide/TV Weekly staff and get one-on-one training.
  • Potential to interview television celebrities and work closely with network publicists.
  • Potential for print exposure/bylines.

So show us what you’ve got. Interested candidates should submit three writing samples and a list of shows you’d love to cover to letters@ntvbmedia.com. Got an existing blog and Twitter account? We want to see that, too. If we like what we read, you could become a welcome addition to the channelguidemag.com writing staff.
