That spooky time of year is upon us once again! As with other years, Halloween 2014 will feature lots of creepy TV programming airing up to, and on the date itself.

31 Days of Halloween Oct. 1-31 on Syfy. Running through Friday, October 31, 31 Days of Halloween will unleash nearly 600 hours of creepy programming featuring the 10th anniversary Ghost Hunters special, the original movies Dark Haul and Finders Keepers, and a wide array of spine-tingling theatricals including Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003 remake) and The Reaping. Check listings for daily details.

The Vampire Diaries (Season Premiere) — Oct. 2 at 8pm on The CW. A new bloody season of the sexy vampire drama returns as Caroline (Candice Accola) confesses to Stefan (Paul Wesley) that her feelings for him have turned from platonic to romantic. Drama ensues when Stefan’s ex and Caroline’s BFF Elena (Nina Dobrev) overhears the declaration of love.

Dog With a Blog: “Howloween 2: The Final Reckoning” — Oct. 2 at 8pm on Disney Channel. Disney Channel kicks off its “Monstober” celebration, with Austin & Ally stars Raini Rodriguez and Calum Worthy returning to host the event, running Oct. 2-31. In this episode of Dog With a Blog, when Ellen and Bennett overhear Stan talking, the kids go to great lengths to convince their parents the house is haunted to help keep Stan’s secret.

TCM Special Theme: Ghost Stories — Thursdays in October on Turner Classic Movies (TCM). TCM airs spooky (and sometimes humorous) classic films devoted to ghost stories this month. Highlights include Topper (1937, Oct. 2), The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947, Oct. 9), The Innocents (1961, Oct. 23), The Uninvited (1944, Oct. 23), and The Haunting (1963, Oct. 30).

Girl Meets World: “Girl Meets World: Of Terror” — Oct. 2 at 8:30pm on Disney Channel. The kids face a trilogy of terror when Riley has a sleepover at Maya’s with her Gammy Hart and pet ferret. Auggie confronts the monster under his bed and Farkle tackles his most terrifying fear yet – playing softball.

Jessie: “The Runaway Bride of Frankenstein” — Oct. 2 at 9pm on Disney Channel. As the Ross kids prepare for the Halloween Festival, the festivities take a scary turn when Brooks proposes to Jessie and she learns that none of the kids like him.

Killer Thursdays — Thursdays on Sony Movie Channel. Each Thursday in October features horror movies, starting Oct. 2 with two Clive Barker tales: Candyman (1992) and Clive Barker’s The Plague (2006).

Jake and the Never Land Pirates: “Pirate Ghost Story” — Oct. 3 at 8:30am on Disney Channel. Jake and his crew help ghost pirate Treasure Tooth reunite with his ghostly pirate gal, Peg-Leg Peg.

Sofia the First: “Ghostly Gala” — Oct. 3 at 9am on Disney Channel. Sofia tries to keep a ghost from ruining her Halloween party.

Doc McStuffins: “Hide and Eek” — Oct. 3 at 9:30am on Disney Channel. While pretending to be mad scientists, Donny and Alma create a toy monster which all the other toys are afraid of until they get to know him and see that he’s not so scary after all.

R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour: The Series (Season Premiere) — Oct. 4 at 4pm on Hub Network. The Emmy Award-winning children’s series returns for another season of spooky tales with back-to-back episodes. In “I’m Not Martin,” Sean (Sean Giambrone) is in the hospital to get his tonsils removed but fears that the cursed hospital has other plans. And in “Grandpa’s Glasses,” once Bo (Mason Cook) tries on his deceased grandfather’s glasses, he realizes there’s a sinister spirit in the house.

Phineas and Ferb: “Night of the Living Pharmacists” (one-hour episode) — Oct. 4 at 8pm on Disney Channel. In this Night of the Living Dead-inspired special, Doofenshmirtz’s latest “-inator” accidentally turns the citizens of Danville into contagious Doof-zombies who run rampant all over town. Agent P and the kids must work together to save Danville and avoid becoming Doof-zombies themselves. Guest voices include Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) and George Romero (Night of the Living Dead).

Gravity Falls: “Little Gift Shop of Horrors” — Oct. 4 at 9pm on Disney Channel. In three separate mysterious tales, Stan is cursed by a Witch, Waddles accidentally eats a bowl of brain-enhancing jelly and builds a machine that allows him to speak for the first time, and Mabel faces her fear of Claymotion.

Dark Haul — Oct. 4 at 9pm on Syfy. A team of secretive guardians transports a deadly creature and its half-human sister to a secure location, but the beast escapes and threatens to destroy the world. Tom Sizemore, Rick Ravanello and Evalena Marie star.

Ghost Adventures: “Queen Mary” — Oct. 4 at 9pm on Travel Channel. In the Season 10 premiere, Zak, Nick and Aaron board the iconic RMS Queen Mary, docked in Long Beach, California. Once the most luxurious ship at sea, the Queen Mary is now considered one of the most haunted places on earth.

Wander Over Yonder: “The Gift II: The Giftening” — Oct. 4 at 9:30pm on Disney Channel. Mysterious gifts start popping up on Lord Hater’s ship, zombie-fying each recipient with gratitude. Hater and Peepers try to escape the creeping terror delivering these gifts.

Austin & Ally: “Horror Stories & Halloween Scares” — Oct. 5 at 8pm on Disney Channel. When a power outage leaves the four friends locked in Sonic Boom overnight on Halloween, they pass the time by seeing who can tell the scariest ghost story.

Liv and Maddie: “Helgaween-A-Rooney” — Oct. 5 at 8:30pm on Disney Channel. The Rooneys’ Halloween celebration takes an unexpected turn when a magic amulet turns twins Liv and Maddie into triplets, and their sister is the frightening Helga. Meanwhile, Joey and Parker use the amulet to clone themselves.

I Didn’t Do It: “Next of Pumpkin” — Oct. 5 at 9pm on Disney Channel. Garrett is ready to meet his secret crush at the Holla!-Ween fest, but his disco ball costume winds up getting him stuck belly up in a corn maze. Meanwhile, Delia has grown a 10-foot pumpkin in hopes of beating her arch nemesis Great Granny Wrinkles for the biggest pumpkin award.

Halloween Wars: “The Haunted Farm” — Oct. 5 at 9pm on Food Network. In the Season 4 premiere of Food Network’s fan-favorite holiday series, five teams made up of an expert pumpkin carver, cake decorator and sugar artist battle to create the most mind-blowing Halloween-themed display that captures a terrifying haunted farm. At the end of the battle, one team will be eliminated from the competition. American Horror Story: Asylum’s Naomi Grossman is tonight’s special guest judge.

Witches of East End: “Box to the Future/For Whom the Spell Tolls” — Oct. 5 at 9pm on Lifetime. In the two-hour season finale, as Joanna attempts to travel back to the present, a dangerous admirer tracks her down in the past. Killian makes a rash decision after hearing about Freya; Frederick becomes suspicious of Ingrid’s intentions; King Nikolaus propositions Dash. In the second hour,  Joanna tries to escape from Tarkoff; Freya and Wendy race to find a way back to the present; Ingrid learns shocking news about herself from King Nikolaus; Dash’s dark past closes in on him; and Killian tries to stay alive.

The Strain: “The Master” — Oct. 5 at 10pm on FX. In the season finale, Eph and Fet recon for an all-out assault that Setrakian assures them will finally kill the Master. Gus aligns himself with a strange new force, one that may swing the fight in an unforeseen direction.

American Super/Natural — Oct. 5 at 10pm on The Weather Channel. This new series gives viewers a look at Earth sciences as seen through the origins of Americana’s most frightening legends. The premiere episode tells the story of accused witch Moll Dyer, who was driven from her home in 1697 during a deadly freeze by an angry mob. Legend says she froze to death moments after cursing the town. This episode looks into the science behind the legend of Moll Dyer.

Zombie Apocalypse Week — Oct. 6-10 at 7pm; Oct. 11 at 12pm on AMC. Before the Season 5 premiere on Oct. 12, catch up with Seasons 1-4 during this themed week.

The Originals (Season Premiere) — Oct. 6 at 8pm on The CW. In the midst of a thriving New Orleans, a city known to be steeped in magic and history, the long-smoldering war between humans, vampires and witches is about to reach a fever pitch, and the Originals stand as the catalyst.

Dead Still — Oct. 6 at 9pm on Syfy. A photographer is bequeathed his father’s estate and discovers that the home is haunted by his great-grandfather — an evil “death” photographer who kept his victims on the brink of death in order to take the most tantalizing photos. Ben Browder stars.

Supernatural — Oct. 7 at 9pm on The CW. Season 9 begins with the fallout from last season’s finale, when the angels of heaven fell to Earth. Sam and Dean face a world inhabited by thousands of powerful beings with their own agendas, and the boys struggle to reopen the gates of heaven and send the angels back to where they belong.

Town of the Living Dead — Oct. 7 at 10pm on Syfy (pictured at top). The colorful folks of Jasper, Ala., are determined — once and for all — to complete their zombie movie, Thr33 Days Dead, which has now been six long years in the making. Based on a town urban legend, the film centers on a group of friends trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. This docuseries follows the intrepid and motley crew of amateur filmmakers as they struggle against an array of obstacles to get to a final cut of their film (which Syfy says could someday be a movie on the network).

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures: “The Shadow of the Were-Pac” — Oct. 8 at 3:30pm on Disney XD. President Spheros decides to throw the spookiest Halloween party ever, but a series of mysterious Were-Pac attacks take scary to new heights, so Pac and pals must become super sleuths

Ghost Hunters: “An Officer and an Apparition” (Midseason premiere) — Oct. 8 at 9pm on Syfy. In the series’ 10th anniversary episode, the TAPS team travels to the Old City Hall in Brunswick, Ga., to investigate claims of paranormal activity said to be sparked by a 19th-century shooting death.

American Horror Story: Freak Show — Oct. 8 at 10pm on FX. For this 13-episode go-round, series co-creator Ryan Murphy takes us back to 1952 and into the lives of a traveling freak show. In addition to the world’s smallest woman Jyoti Amge, the cast also includes Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, Michael Chiklis, John Carroll Lynch, Emma Roberts, Denis O’Hare, Gabourey Sidibe, Wes Bentley and Finn Wittrock. “It’s probably a little bit of everything that’s come before it, in all three seasons, but it also stands alone,” Paulson told us. “It’s its own thing and it’s almost indescribable and that’s very exciting.”

Killer Thursdays: “Zombie Nights” — Oct. 9 at 10pm on Sony Movie Channel. Tonight’s fright flicks are Night of the Creeps (1986) and Night of the Living Dead (1990).

Jake and the Never Land Pirates: “Jake the Wolf” — Oct. 10 at 8:30am on Disney Channel. When Jake turns into a wolf after disregarding a warning, his pirate pals must find a cure.

Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web-Warriors: “Halloween Night at the Museum” — Oct. 10 at 9:30pm on Disney Channel. The cast of Jessie gets animated in this special crossover episode that finds the Manhattan nanny in possession of a medieval sword coveted by the infamous Morgan Le Fey. Jessie and Spider-Man team up to save Halloween and the world from Le Fay’s evil plans.

Halloween Wars: “Don’t Go Into the Forest” Oct. 12 at 9pm on Food Network. The four remaining teams vie to create deliciously creepy displays that evoke the familiar fairy tale and horror movie maxim.

The Walking Dead (Season Premiere) — Oct. 12 at 9pm on AMC. The zombie phenom returns for a fifth season with answers to who makes it out of that Terminus train car — and how — and what’s become of Beth.

Talking Dead (Season Premiere) — Oct. 12 at 10pm on AMC. Chris Hardwick returns as host of The Walking Dead’s live after-show in which cast members and crew from the series, plus celebrity fans and audience members, discuss the episode and take call-in questions and comments from viewers.

Disney Channel Halloween Marathon — Oct. 13 from 10am-8pm on Disney Channel. Encore presentations of Halloween-themed episodes and movies.

Harry Potter Week — Oct. 13-18 on ABC Family. Each night features a Harry Potter movie, beginning Oct. 13 with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at 7:30pm, and culminating Oct. 18 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2 beginning at 3:30pm.

Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story of Terror! — Oct. 15 at 8pm on ABC; Oct. 19 at 7:30pm on ABC Family. When one of their friends goes missing in a spooky motel, Buzz, Woody and all your favorite toys must work together to track down their missing pal.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown — Oct. 15 at 8:30pm; Oct. 30 at 8pm on ABC. The classic 1966 animated special finds the Peanuts gang celebrating Halloween, with Linus hoping that finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party.

Killer Thursdays: “Campy Screaming” — Oct. 16 at 10pm on Sony Movie Channel. Airings of the movies Sleepwalkers (1992) and Brainscan (1994).

Fearfest 2014 — Oct. 17 beginning at 9am on AMC. AMC runs its annual horror celebration, which will feature a Stephen King movie marathon (Oct. 17); a Tremors marathon (Oct. 18 & 26); a Chucky-thon (Oct. 19 & 25)); a Friday the 13th marathon (Oct. 20); a marathon of The Omen (Oct. 24); and a Halloween marathon (Oct. 27-29). The network will also celebrate the 30th anniversaries of Ghostbusters (Oct. 16), Firestarter (Oct. 17) and Children of the Corn (Oct. 17).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: “Buried Secrets” — Oct. 17 at 8pm on Nickelodeon. The team discovers a Kraang ship buried underneath April’s house, where they find April’s mom. But as April reconnects with her lost mother, is the woman really all that she seems?

Evermoor (Chapter 1 & 2) — Oct. 17 at 9pm on Disney Channel. This mystery-adventure special follows Tara Crossley, an American teen and aspiring mystery writer who, along with her newlyblended family, has just moved into an old family mansion in Evermoor, a beautiful but isolated village in the middle of England. In Chapters 1 & 2, a series of mysterious incidents unfold at Evermoor Manor when Tara discovers a magical typewriter and an ancient tapestry that holds the power to predict the future. The inquisitive and impulsive teen soon finds herself at odds with the formidable Esmerelda Dwyer, who is determined to get rid of the Crossley family.

Sanjay and Craig: “Tufflips’ Tales of Terror” — Oct. 18 at 10:30am on Nickelodeon. Tufflips hosts a spooky, strange and shoddy Halloween special.

Breadwinners: “Night of the Living Bread” — Oct. 18 at 11am on Nickelodeon. SwaySway and Buhdeuce invent a loaf of bread so irresistible, it turns their customers into bread-craving zombies.

Rabbids Invasion: “Vampire Rabbid”/”Rabbid Halloween”/”Zombie Rabbid” — Oct. 18 at 11:30am on Nickelodeon.

disney-howloweenAmerica’s Cutest: Disney Side Howl-O-Ween — Oct. 18 at 8pm on Animal Planet. John O’Hurley hosts this one-hour special that encourages fans to show their Disney Side by dressing up their pets as favorite Disney characters. The program also includes highlights from the first ever Disney Side Dog’s Day at Walt Disney World Resort, a private event that featured 101 dogs parading down Main Street, U.S.A. and costumed canines in the Magic Kingdom.

The Fright Night Files — Oct. 18 at 8pm on TV One. This original horror film is a trilogy of three short films about deadly romance, and stars Elise Neal, Lynn Whitfield, Victoria Rowell, Harry Lennix and more.

Finders Keepers — Oct. 18 at 9pm on Syfy. A child becomes obsessed with an evil doll left behind by the previous occupants of her new home. Jaime Pressly stars.

13 Nights of Halloween Oct. 19 beginning at 7am through Oct. 31 on ABC Family. It’s the 16th year for ABC Family’s spooky programming event. This year features Halloween episodes of Melissa & Joey and Baby Daddy; a Pretty Little Liars fan appreciation special; scary Freak Out prank specials; and lots of movies, including the network television premieres of Dark Shadows and ParaNorman. America’s Funniest Home Videos — Oct. 19 at 7pm on ABC. This week’s special Halloween themed episode highlights include animals dressed in funny costumes, like a goat dressed as a cheerleader and a dog dressed as a fish; hilarious reactions from people being told they are going to be grandparents; two little girls who are frightened when seeing cotton candy for the first time; and Tom Bergeron playing “What’s Behind the Scary Ghost?”

The Simpsons: “Treehouse of Horror XXV” — Oct. 19 at 8pm on FOX. On the annual Halloween special, Bart and Lisa are transported to a demon-filled alternate universe after Bart reads a set of Aramaic symbols he finds on the underside of his desk; Moe’s “Clockwork Orange”-style gang is disrupted when Dum (Homer) falls for a girl (Marge) who wants him to give up the thug life; and, in an homage to The Others, the Simpsons are visited by their former Tracey Ullman-era versions of themselves.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: “Halloween II” — Oct. 19 at 8:30pm on FOX. The Peralta/Holt annual Halloween bet continues when Jake challenges the Captain that he can steal his watch before midnight. Meanwhile, Gina is upset that her dance team, Floorgasm, kicks her off the squad and Terry confronts her about her bad attitude.

Halloween Wars: “Mummies vs. Werewolves” — Oct. 19 at 9pm on Food Network. Three remaining teams made up of a pumpkin carver, a cake decorator and a sugar artist vie to create the most epic battle between mummies and werewolves to see who will advance to the $50,000 final battle.

Family Guy: “Baking Bad” — Oct. 19 at 9pm on FOX. Lois and Peter go into business together and open a cookie store, but things get messy when Peter comes up with his own way to get more customers.

Mulaney: “Halloween” — Oct. 19 at 9:30pm on FOX. As a tribute to his deceased neighbor, Lapidus, John uses his jokes for Lou’s monologue. Then, in an effort to please Lou and make sure his contract, which expires on Halloween, is renewed, John stops at nothing – including potential grave robbery – to retrieve more of Lapidus’ material and prove his worth to Lou.

Ghost Stalkers — Oct. 19 at 10pm on Destination America. Paranormal investigators Chad Lindberg and John E.L. Tenney conduct overnight explorations in America’s most haunted places. The premiere episode finds the pair at the Whispers Estate in Mitchell, Ind., which has had reports of violent hauntings, goat-like demons and bizarre shadow creatures.

The Chew — Oct. 20 at 1pm on ABC. Beginning today, Clinton Kelly leads a weeklong series called “Your Freaky Front Door,” with easy, innovative and inexpensive decorating ideas to keep your front door looking Halloween-y.

Pretty Little Liars: “We Love You to DeAth” — Oct. 21 at 8pm on ABC Family. It’s Halloween and in this PLL fan appreciation special, “A” is up to his or her usual tricks.

Forever: “The Frustrating Thing About Psychopaths” — Oct. 21 at 10pm on ABC. When a human heart is delivered fresh out of a body to the homicide division, Henry and Jo end up in the middle of a Jack the Ripper copycat murder investigation. But it doesn’t stop there. A second killing resembles another infamous, unsolved crime: the Black Dahlia murder. Henry has seen it all before, as flashbacks show his involvement with the two original cases from two very different periods of his long life. However, Henry’s anonymous caller tips him to search beyond the clues of these classic killings and leads the police squad to profile a very different, yet disturbed suspect.

Melissa & Joey: “Witch Came First” — Oct. 22 at 8pm on ABC Family. In an all-new Halloween episode directed by star Melissa Joan Hart, Melissa is visited by her doctor (guest star Beth Broderick), who tells Mel she was once a teenage witch and must now help break a curse.

Baby Daddy: “Strip or Treat” — Oct. 22 at 8:30pm on ABC Family. In an all-new Halloween-themed episode, Riley decides to pull a prank on everyone after all the jokes they’ve played on her over the years.

Ghost Hunters: “200th Episode: Grant Is Back” — Oct. 22 at 9pm on Syfy. The series marks its 200th episode with this two-hour show that finds the team returning to one of its favorite haunted locations: the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, W.Va. Returning for this special episode is TAPS cofounder Grant Wilson.

American Horror Story: Freak Show: “Edward Mordrake, Pt. 1” — Oct. 22 at 10pm on FX. The Freaks refuse to perform on Halloween due to an old carny superstition. Jimmy is smitten by a woman claiming to be a fortuneteller. Ethel receives life-changing news.

Killer Thursdays: “Boogeyman Franchise” — Oct. 23 at 10pm on Sony Movie Channel. Boogeyman 2 (2008) and Boogeyman 3 (2009).

Last Man Standing: “School Merger” — Oct. 24 at 8pm on ABC. Mike and Chuck debate the merits of a local ballot measure merging their upscale neighborhood high school with one in the inner city. For Halloween, Ryan dresses up Boyd as a lump of coal – another reminder to Vanessa how her job as a geologist may be hurting the environment.

Evermoor (Chapter 3 & 4) — Oct. 24 at 9pm on Disney Channel. Tara and her step-brother Seb team up to solve the mystery of the tapestry that predicts the future and save their family and Evermoor Manor from the sinister Esmerelda.

Grimm (Season Premiere) — Oct. 24 at 9pm on NBC. In the wake of Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee’s (Bree Turner) wedding, things have never been more chaotic. Nick (David Giuntoli), having lost his Grimm abilities, must dig deep and decide what type of person he wants to be, while Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) continues to try to come to grips with Nick’s recent “betrayal.”

Constantine — Oct. 24 at 10pm on NBC. Matt Ryan plays John Constantine in this new drama based on the comic book series Hellblazer from DC Comics. A seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult, Constantine decides, with his soul already damned to hell, to abandon his campaign against evil — until a series of events thrusts him back into the fray, working to protect the innocent.

Roseanne’s Halloween — Oct. 25-26 from 1pm-4pm; Oct. 30-31 from 3am-5am on TV Land. A marathon of Halloween episodes of the classic sitcom Roseanne.

High School Possession — Oct. 25 at 8pm on Lifetime. Intelligent and gifted, Lauren is the student editor of the school newspaper, and as part of her senior year project, she’s doing an expose on each of the school cliques. Her next assignment is to follow Olivia and her church youth group known as “The Chosen.” One night after interviewing them, Lauren stumbles onto The Chosen performing an exorcism on a girl led by Reverend Young. Lauren is horrified but intrigued so she begins to investigate and it seems to have really helped the girl. Meanwhile, Lauren’s best friend Chloe is having trouble and spiraling out of control at home and at school. Her mother has taken her to countless doctors and none of them can clearly diagnose her. The only option remaining is for Chloe to be hospitalized. Lauren realizes that Chloe might be possessed and needs an exorcism. But when Reverend Young refuses to help them Lauren and The Chosen decide to take matters into their own hands…except not all of the girls may be doing this to save Chloe. When it becomes evident that Olivia is performing the ritual to hurt her it’s up to Lauren to truly save Chloe. Jennifer Stone, Janel Parrish, Ione Skye, Kelly Hu, and Shanley Caswell star in this original film.

Classic Horror Novels — Oct. 25 at 8pm on TCM. TCM airs a night of films based on classic horror novels, including Village of the Damned (1961) and The Curse of Frankenstein (1957).

good-witch's-wonderThe Good Witch’s Wonder — Oct. 25 at 9pm on Hallmark Channel. Cassie Nightingale (Catherine Bell) has mere days to plan her stepson’s wedding and spearhead the Middleton silent auction while running her mystical shop. When Audrey, a new arrival in town, wanders into the shop, Cassie hires her on the spot. Before long, auction items go missing and suspicions start to swirl around Audrey and her secret past. The Incredible Dr. Pol: “Pol-tergeist” — Oct. 25 at 9pm on Nat Geo Wild. Halloween is coming, and Dr. Pol is in his element dealing with jumping, flailing and barking clientele. Charles has some tricks up his sleeves, but that’s nothing compared to the surprises patients bring, as Dr. Pol is hit with blood, urine and a kick in the knee. Later, the doc and his family visit a haunted yard, but after dealing with an angry herd of beef cattle, a pair of ill-mannered sugar gliders and a skittish stallion, Dr. Pol ain’t afraid of no ghosts.

The Amityville Horror Murders — Oct. 25 at 9pm; Oct. 26 at 6pm; Oct. 29 at 11pm; Oct. 30 at 9pm on REELZChannel. Narrated by Ed Asner, this two-hour documentary explores the grisly 1974 mass murder that served as a genesis for the Amityville story and reveals its connection to the disturbing claims made by George and Kathy Lutz who moved into the house with their three children one year later. That couple’s alleged experiences would lead to a haunted house tale Hollywood couldn’t resist, and this documentary sheds light on the shocking circumstances and web of lies at the base of the franchise it inspired. REELZ will also be airing the 1979 film The Amityville Horror (Oct. 19 at 3pm and Oct. 25 at 4:30pm), as well as its 2005 remake (Oct. 19 at 10:30pm; Oct. 25 at 11pm; Oct. 26 at 4pm; Oct. 31 at 9pm & 11pm).

The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Marathon  — Oct. 26 beginning at 12pm on FXX. FXX airs all 24 Treehouse of Horror Halloween special episodes of The Simpsons in a marathon today, featuring plenty of The Twilight Zone parodies, and lots of alien invasions by Kang and Kodos. Themed Treehouse of Horror mini-marathons will air from 8pm-11pm Oct. 27-30 on FXX.

The Dorm — Oct. 26 at 8pm on MTV. The Dorm is an original horror movie that centers on Vivian, an awkward college freshman who undergoes a transformation into a flawless, seductive beauty at the hands of her new dorm mates. When she begins questioning her friends’ motives, Vivian uncovers an unimaginable evil lurking in the halls. Alexis Knapp, Cassie Steele, Max Lloyd Jones, Jake Crocker and Rami Kahlo star.

Beastly Nights — Oct. 26-30 on Animal Planet. Animal Planet’s first-ever “Beastly Nights” programming stunt features five nights of cryptic creatures, near-death tales and never-before-seen footage. Notable premieres include Monsters Behind the Iron Curtain (Oct. 26, 9pm), The Hunt for Hogzilla (Oct. 27, 8pm) and Blood Lake: The Lost Footage (Oct. 30, 11pm).

Halloween Wars: “Haunted Carnival” — Oct. 26 at 9pm on Food Network. Horror actor Lew Temple (The Walking Dead) guest-judges tonight’s Halloween Wars finale, in which the two remaining teams of food-centric artists must create displays that capture the terrifying fun of a haunted carnival.

Curious George: “A Halloween Boo Fest” — Oct. 27 and 31 on PBS (check local listings for time). It’s George’s first Halloween in the country, and Bill tells him and Allie about the Legend of No Noggin – a spooky tale about a hat-kicking scarecrow who haunts the countryside on Halloween. But is the legend really real? George and Allie are determined to find out by taking a picture of No Noggin in hat-kicking action. But first, George needs to figure out what he’s going to be for Halloween so he can win the costume contest at the town Boo Festival. Will George’s quest for the perfect costume interfere with his quest for the truth?

The Chew — Oct. 27-31 at 1pm on ABC. This week features Halloween-themed segments, including Carla hall and Clinton Kelly’s Haunted House experience; a visit to DeBrito Chocolate Factory in California, with their gourmet caramel apples; and the Secret Jack-O-Lantern is passed around, where the hosts will secretly assign each other the costumes they will wear on Oct. 31.

Kirby Buckets: “Flice of the Living Dead” — Oct. 27 at 7:30pm on Disney XD. Kirby and his friends are excited that they’re finally old enough to attend the annual “Forest Hills Ninth Annual Fright Night Film Festival.” However, when their biology teacher accidentally breaks open a container of Forest Hills Super Flice, the principal quarantines Kirby’s class within the school, ruining their chance to go. Meanwhile, Dawn and Belinda are psyched to be invited to a Halloween party at the house of one of the coolest boys in school, Evan.

Dancing With the Stars — Oct. 27 at 8pm on ABC. DWTS will treat viewers to an exciting Halloween-themed episode filled with thrilling performances from the remaining eight couples. Each pair will light up the ballroom floor with spectacular costumes vying for a wickedly perfect score.

The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Mini-Marathon — Oct. 27 from 8pm-11pm on FXX. Tonight’s marathon is “Twilight Zone”-themed, with Treehouse of Horror episodes I (Season 2), II (Season 3), III, (Season 4), VI (Season 7), VII (Season 8) and XV (Season 16).

Rewrapped: “Jelly Belly Candy Corn” — Oct. 27 at 8:30pm on Food Network. It’s Halloween’s favorite friend, the Candy Corn. Scorpion: “True Colors” — Oct. 27 at 9pm on CBS. Team Scorpion must pass a mandated psych evaluation or face being disbanded after they’re accused of destroying a priceless work of art in an attempt to protect an art exhibit. Meanwhile, Paige enlists the help of the team when Ralph is reluctant to go to his school’s Halloween party.

South Park: Goth Kids — Oct. 27 from 9:30pm-11pm on Comedy Central. Prepare for Halloween with the ones who know darkness best: the Goth Kids.

Duck Dynasty: “Quack O’Lanterns” — Oct. 27 at 11:32pm & Oct. 29 at 10:01pm on A&E. The Robertsons host a Halloween event at Duck Commander, where they all come together to transform the warehouse into a “scarehouse.” Everyone dresses up and Willie desperately tries to be the scariest, but none of the kids are afraid of him. The NCIS team must determine if the murder of a Navy commander’s wife is linked to her profession as a therapist or an act of terrorism after finding the commander’s name on a Jihadist target list. Meanwhile, the team discusses Halloween costumes and Tony’s recent dating habits.

Dennah plans to make a big splash at an exclusive party in a very skimpy costume. Meanwhile, Gil and Kay go trick-or-treating and use the opportunity to spy incognito on Gil’s ex-wife.

About a Boy: “About a Will-O-Ween” — Oct. 28 at 9:30pm on NBC. Will throws his annual Halloween bash, much to the dismay of Fiona and Marcus, who consider it one of their least favorite holidays. Despite the fact that Fiona believes Will has other motives for throwing the party, she ends up meeting Sean (guest star Humphrey Ker) there and reveals a whole new side of herself. After a few mishaps at the party, Will shows Marcus the joys of Halloween.

“Ozzmania” on The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands — Oct. 28 at 10pm on AXS TV. On a special Halloween-themed broadcast of “The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands” Ozzmania: a Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath takes the stage live to pay tribute to the music and horrified stylings of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.

Meanwhile, Barry stops Erica from eating Pop Rocks candy with soda, since according to urban legend, the combination would kill her. Since he “saves” her, Barry wants something in return from Erica.

Modern Family: “Halloween 3: AwesomeLand” — Oct. 29 at 9pm on ABC. Even though Halloween is Claire’s holiday, she allows Phil to take over this year so instead of her usual fright-fest theme, he decides to turn the house into AwesomeLand. Gloria picks out Princess Fiona and Shrek costumes for her and Jay, but Jay decides he wants to be Prince Charming complete with a full head of gorgeous hair, and with the hair comes a new sense of confidence. Elsewhere, Cameron gets overwhelmed by the day’s activities and Mitchell has closing arguments for a huge case, and it doesn’t help that the stenographer is dressed like a spider.

Criminal Minds: “Boxed In” — Oct. 29 at 9pm on CBS. When a young boy who went missing in San Diego on Halloween suddenly reappears one year later, the BAU must work fast when another trick-or-treater disappears under similar circumstances. Series star Thomas Gibson directed the episode, and his son, Travis, guest-stars.

Ghost Hunters: “Phantoms of the Opera” — Oct. 29 at 9pm on Syfy. On this special Halloween episode, TAPS travels to Ohio to investigate the Cincinnati Music Hall, a building where the hauntings are as frequent as the performances. What lies beneath this historic structure could help the team uncover the basis for paranormal activity.

American Horror Story: Freak Show: “Edward Mordrake, Pt. 2” — Oct. 29 at 10pm on FX. Edward Mordrake continues his search for a Freak to add to his ghostly coterie. Elsa tells the grisly story of her days in Germany. Jimmy and Maggie have a run-in with the Twisted Clown.

The Bold and the Beautiful — Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 at 1:30pm/12:30pm PT on CBS. During these Halloween-themed episodes, series regulars Scott Clifton (Liam) and Ashleigh Brewer (Ivy) embark on a new romance while attending the annual Halloween party at Bikini Beach. Series regular Lawrence Saint Victor (Carter) and costume clad Big Brother 16 fan favorite Donny Thompson will also be there to celebrate the holiday. The Amazing World of Gumball: “The Mirror” — Oct. 30 at 6:15pm on Cartoon Network. When Gumball refuses to forward a scare email, the curse becomes all too real. Gumball receives a scare email from a freaky ghost and decides to ignore it, despite Darwin’s advice. He refuses to admit it, but the curse starts to come true and his whole family gets dragged into another dimension. Gumball and Darwin, with help from Carrie, set out to save their family.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown/You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown — Oct. 30 at 8pm on ABC. The classic animated Halloween-themed PEANUTS special is repeated, along with a bonus PEANUTS cartoon, “You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown,” in which Linus runs for class president.

He began to dig up fresh corpses from the nearby Nieder-Beerbach cemetery and dragged them to his laboratory in Castle Frankenstein to test out his formulas. Ironically, it was his potions that finally killed him.

LIVE With Kelly and Michael — Oct. 31 on syndicated channels (check local listings). Hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan transform into 2014’s most unforgettable characters during “LIVE’s Best Halloween Show Ever … Seriously,” which will feature more than 50 costumes.

The Real Wolfman — Oct. 31 at 9am on History. Follow veteran criminal profiler George Deuchar and renowned cryptozoologist, Ken Gerhardt as they investigate the legend of the notorious Wolfman. Between the years of 1764 and 1767, the small French hamlet of Gevaudan was plagued by a mysterious beast that attacked and killed 102 villagers. The victims (mostly women and children) were all maliciously mauled and decapitated. All bore the bite marks of a non-human creature, and even more bizarre, many victims were found undressed and sexually assaulted. For centuries, the true identify of this mysterious “wolfman” has remained a mystery.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show marathon — Oct. 31 at 10am-Nov. 1 at 6am on Logo TV. Dr. Frank N. Furter, Janet, Brad and Riff Raff are taking over Logo TV on Halloween for an all-day  marathon of the camp classic. Beginning during the midnight showing, there will be audience participation elements, so stock up on toilet paper, hot dogs, water pistols and rice.

Modern Marvels: “Halloween Tech” — Oct. 31 at 6pm on History. Halloween has become a six billion-dollar industry. Go behind-the-scenes at Knott’s Berry Farm’s 35th annual Halloween Haunt. Learn how to apply Hollywood grade monster make-up, watch scary latex masks cranked out by the thousands and discover which costumes are past and present winners. See the most extreme jack-o-lanterns ever made, find out how hundreds of gallons of fake blood are manufactured and finally visit a haunted house with an annual attendance of over 50,000.

Cristela: “Hall-Oates-Ween” — Oct. 31 at 8:31pm on ABC. It’s Halloween, and Cristela is eager to show Trent her “party-whispering” skills to make this year’s party a success. After failing to convince Josh, Cristela gets Maddie to join her in dressing up as Hall & Oates. Meanwhile at home, Natalia’s dislike for Halloween has her celebrating the Day of the Dead instead and, ironically, her stories of deceased relatives makes her the most popular Halloween attraction in the neighborhood.

Inside MMA Live From The Shining Set At The Stanley Hotel — Oct. 31 at 9pm on AXS TV. The show delivers the latest combat sports news and highlights with a Halloween-themed twist as the program broadcasts live form the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, the set of Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror classic The Shining. This is followed, at 10pm, by “Frightening Finishes,” a half-hour showcase of AXS TV Fights’ most devastating knockout blows and submissions.

Hawaii Five-0: “Ho’omā’ike” — Oct. 31 at 9pm on CBS. It’s Halloween, and Five-0 must track down a serial killer who is copying murders depicted in a cult slasher film. (Episode title is Hawaiian for “Unmasked.”)

Ghost Adventures Two-Hour Halloween Special: “Ireland’s Celtic Demons” — Oct. 31 at 9pm on Travel Channel. Ireland abounds with ancient legends and haunted locales infested by vengeful ghosts, banshees and satanic elements. Leap Castle in County Offaly is a building ridden with paranormal activity and a bloody history of battles, massacres, murders and a dungeon of death few dare to enter. Hell Fire Club in Dublin has a long history of debauchery and satanic activities. There are even recent reports of black masses at which animal sacrifices were made. Loftus Hall in Wexford is said to be home to the devil himself, and haunted by the Loftus daughter whose unsettled ghost still roams the property.

  1. My grandkids watched a movie called The Witches, about turning children into mice,a couple years ago. They loved that movie, is it showing this October on any Dish Network Channel
